I would like to purchase a Baltimore Catechism. I made my confirmation in 1964; what should I get?
Thank you and a Blessed Advent to all.

Not that I necessarily hold this view (as the only Catechism I know is the modern CCC), but there are many people who would debate that. Like I say, I’m not sure if it’s actually and objectively true, but there does seem to be a desire to eschew anything that, for example, quotes from Gaudium et Spes!An updated catechism. You might consider:
United States Catholic Catechism for Adults or the Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
Both are superior to the BC…
Which is one of many reasons why Spe Salvi is such a magnificent work! Not that I necessarily hold this view (as the only Catechism I know is the modern CCC), but there are many people who would debate that. Indeed. Great article, by the way.I wondered if anyone would get the Rorate Cæli/Socci reference…
I started using Baltimore Catechism #3 with my teens and preteens, but now we prefer My Catholic Faith (reprint of 1954 edition). Both are excellent and cover the same material in like manner (Q/A format). My Catholic Faith is easier to use because each topic is nicely laid out on two facing pages. Kids seem to prefer the larger format of this hardcover book to the smaller paperback books.I would get this one…

I actually bought this one for my kids (teenager and preschooler).
Ah yes, no holds barred catholicism, unapologetic apologetics - or as some of us call it - “meat and potatoes”.The Baltimore Catechism is probably the best english language catechism to date. It lays out the Catholic faith in a blunt and straightforward manner…
I’d love to get a copy of the Roman Catechism - one of these days.In addition, I would suggest the Catechism of St. Pius X and the Roman Catechism of the Council of Trent.
