I noticed for a while they’ve had a band playing during the 11:00 mass at my local church, I actually really liked it, I noticed it intrigued many youth to attend. But now they don’t have it anymore, I was wondering what we could do to talk them into bringing that family band back? Because I really think it attracted most of the youth to attend, and I personally think it’s sad that they don’t have it anymore. All the Spanish masses at my church have a family band playing.

I would try asking the Priest or music director to find out the reasons were for stopping. I know many will come in here and tell you that these sorts of musical instruments shouldn’t be used but if you really want to know, then you should be asking the people in charge at your parish. We have a late Sunday afternoon Mass which my husband sings and plays in, they have a piano, guitar, violin, trumpet, electric guitar (it’s not loud rock so no comments please from the peanut gallery) and sometimes a small drum. My 13 yr old really likes it. I’ts all very nice and done with taste.

Anyway, i would find out the reason first. If the Priest has decided he doesn’t want it then you might have to just live with his decision but it could be something else 🤷

I agree with anamchara (as usual). It could be that the musicians just decided they were tired of doing it (You know how temperamental musicians can be  ). Or maybe they’re taking a break, and they’ll be back. I hope you can get them back. Offering a Mass with contemporary music styles can really enhance worship for people, like me, who prefer that style.

If only we could resurrect Torquemada and unleash him on some American parishes… he’d straighten them out…
