In the interests of accuracy: If you want to go to Mexico, just walk across the border at a checkpoint, past the “Bienvenudo a Mexico” banners the Mexicans have erected./QUOTE
In a further intrest IN accuracy. The word “ESCAPES” was used to indicate that the Priest escaped the eclesiastical order of the Brownsville Bishop. THE BISHOP HAD FORBIDDEN THE PRIEST FROM SAYING MASS. But that priest walked across the bridge and was employed at a Mexican University. Sometime later the Brownsville Bishop was there in Mexico and saw the banned priest saying Mass. You are being sarcastic Richardols. Read the article.
You are using the word “escapes” in a rather unique way, I’d sayThe word “ESCAPES” was used to indicate that the Priest escaped the eclesiastical order of the Brownsville Bishop
I did read it. No reference to an “escape.” And I was being accurate, not sarcastic. You are being sarcastic Richardols. Read the article.
So what’s new - we had a banned bishop who was found saying Mass in AZ and it was reported. Back to the monastery he went. The Brownsville Bishop had banned a priest for sexual acts, but he was seen in Mexico saying Mass. The Vatican has been notified.

I may be wrong about this. I believe that his saying Mass is valid though illicit, but that if, he heard confessions, his absolutions would be invalid and illicit because the local bishop did not give him his faculties. Also, marriages performed by such a person would be invalid. So what’s new - we had a banned bishop who was found saying Mass in AZ and it was reported. Back to the monastery he went.
As far as I know you are not correct at least in the case of the bishop I was referring to. He is not defrocked, his faculties were not suspended, he is for all purpses an ordained bishop who once had a diocese of his own. Due to his “problems” he was removed from the diocese and placed in a monastery where he could celebrate Mass, hear confessions and function as a member of the “community” - the understanding being he would not leave the grounds. It is no way affects the validity of his ministry that he broke the rule of where he ministered.I may be wrong about this.
