My wife of 11 years is a devout Baptist, and I wish to return to the Catholic Church, we have a two year old son,who has not been baptized. I recommended that we have him Baptized in the Catholic Church. Surprisingly she was very open to it, but stated that she doesn’t think that he can be, since she’s not a Catholic. What is the church’s view on this, and how should We proceed.

The fact that one spouse or parent is not Catholic does not preclude baptism of a child in the Church.

The church’s only requirement for baptism of children under 7 is that the child will be raised in the Catholic faith. As long as you are willing to raise your son in the Catholic faith and your wife isn’t looking to undermine that education, then you most certainly can have your son baptized Catholic.
