My children are going to be baptized next Sunday, the first Sunday of Advent. I have two of the most wonderful people in the world who will be their Godparents. I am not at all familiar with the etiquette of Baptism. What are my duties, as the parent of the children to be baptized, to the Godparents? Do I buy gifts?

God Bless,
Jasm

I don’t believe that a gift is required. Just thank the Godparents, and that should be enough.

I’m not sure if its an etiquette issue, but I would at least get them a small token that says “thank you”. I’m sure if you went to a local Catholic store they would be able to help. 🙂

Take pictures at the baptism, and give them a framed picture of them holding or standing with your children. Keep your children’s godparents always inthe loop about what is going on in their lives. Include them in the milestones of your children’s lives particularly when it comes to their catechesis and making their other sacraments. God’s blessings to you and your family on this wonderful day.
