I have a quesiton about baptism. I realize it is very important, and we as Catholics try and get kids baptized as babies as quick as we can.
My question is why? It is taught that baptism cleanses one from original sin. Yet many Baptized Catholics seem statistically no more or less sinful than anybody else…
Does Baptism keep one out of Hell? I know the prevailing thought in the Church for a long time was that if a baby does not get baptized they are destined to float around limbo until The Second Coming of Jesus.
That must have been very hard for parents who lost an unbaptized baby in years past.
Its funny, we never really got all that much into depth about baptism in my confirmation class. Could I get a little bit of clarification?
