There may be a few verses that mention baptism, but there are more verses that mention faith without baptism. If you can find 5 verses that say baptism saves or remits sin, I can find 10 verses that say salvation is by faith without any mention of baptism. Therefore, baptism is not necessary.
““For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)” You just have to believe
“For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law. (Ro 3:28)” Faith is all you need. You don’t have to follow any laws or commandments.
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. (Eph 2:8-9) All works excluded. That would include baptism.
JL: Paul had a life changing encounter with Christ, yet he was told to be baptized and wash his sins away.
[Acts22:16 **AND NOW why tarriest thou? arise, and BE BAPTIZED, and WASH AWAY THY SINS,] Assumption, only if you ignor scripture, is Acts22:16 assumption?
Some Protestants ASSUME when one FIRST BELIEVES (has a conversion experience) he receives the Holy Spirit, is regenerated and born again. Yet we clearly see Paul didn’t receive the Holy Spirit when he had his conversion experience and first believed.
[Acts9:8 And **Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened,
he saw no man: but
they led him by the hand, and brought him
into Damascus. 9 And
he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink. 10 And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.]
[Acts9:17 And **Ananias went his way, and entered into the house;
and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even
Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest,
hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. 18 And
immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and
he received sight forthwith,
AND arose, and WAS BAPTIZED. 19 And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus.]
Notice in verse 17, Ananias says Jesus sent him to Pual to restore his sight and be filled with the Holy Ghost. This is three days after Paul’s conversion experience. Ananias laid hands on Paul and he received his sight. Then Paul was baptized were his sins were washed away, Acts22:16, and he RECEIVED the Holy Spirit, Acts2:38.
[Acts22:12 And one **Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there, 13 Came unto me, and stood, and
said unto me, Brother Saul,
receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him. 14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth. 15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard. 16
AND NOW why tarriest thou? arise, and BE BAPTIZED, and WASH AWAY THY SINS, calling on the name of the Lord.]
Did Paul receive the Holy Spirit before his sins were washed away? What does Acts2:38 say, repent,
be baptized FOR remission of SINS, RECEIVE the Holy Spirit. What did Paul say to BELIEVING diciples in
[Acts19: ACTS 19:1 And it came to pass that, while Apollos was at Corinth **Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus and
FINDING certain
DISCIPLES 2 HE
SAID unto them
HAVE YOU RECEIVED THE HOLY GHOST SINCE YE BELIEVED? And they said unto him
WE HAVE NOT SO MUCH AS HEARD whether
THERE BE ANY HOLY GHOST 3 And
HE SAID unto them
UNTO WHAT then
WERE YE BAPTIZED? And THEY SAID UNTO
JOHN’S BAPTISM 4 Then said Paul,
JOHN verily BAPTIZED WITH the BAPTISM OF REPENTANCE
SAYING unto the people that they should
BELIEVE ON HIM WHICH should COME AFTER HIM that is ON CHRIST JESUS 5 When they heard this
THEY WERE BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS
Evidently more is needed than BELIEF and faith in Christ, to be born again receiving the Holy Ghost. Because John’s baptism of WATER, was of repentance, believing or having faith in the one to come, Christ. They needed the sacrament of Christian baptism to be born again by water AND the Spirit. The Holy Spirit and Christian water baptism go hand and hand else why would Paul ask about baptism when he found they had not RECEIVED or even heard of the Holy Spirit? We receive the indwelling, of the Holy Spirit, in the sacrament of Christ’s baptism, BORN AGAIN by water AND the Spirit. Just as Peter, Paul and Jesus knew and tells us, we receive the Holy Spirit thru BAPTISM, by water AND of the Spirit, Jn3:5.
