I am nervous that our child’s Baptism will be put off indefinitely due to the closure of Mass. What is the plan to Baptise our child should the Church not reopen? How will our child receive the Sacrament? Will a Priest visit our home? How can we do this without Godparents attending? Can we Baptise our child on our own?

I called the Church earlier today and they told me they have no contingency plans at the moment and will get back to me next week.

Most places are still doing sacraments like wedding, baptism and also doing funerals but privately for only maybe 10 or less in attendance.

What you should do is contact your priest and ask him if it will go on as scheduled, if you will do it privately at some other time, If he will come to you, or if he has instructions for baptizing your child at home.

Follow your priest’s instructions

Well there you go, they will be putting a plan together and will contact you next week. You’ll just have to wait until they tell you what the plan is. It is up to your pastor how he deals with this.

You can, but only if your child is in dire and immediate danger.

If your child is under the age of reason, not being Baptized (especially under these unique conditions we are facing) is not an impediment to the child’s salvation.

And, if older (or even adults, because some RCIA Catechumen might be getting worried about the Easter Vigil being cancelled), if they believe, and are intent on being baptism but for unforeseen circumstances die, they are “Baptized by Desire”.

Be at peace.
