Baptism During Advent?

I had a question: Are Baptism’s performed during Advent? I’m expecting my first baby in October and I’m just wondering…

I don’t see why not. I was Baptized in October. On the other hand, it was in 1956. :eek:

My bad. I thought I read you were having your baby baptized in October. I’m half Polish so I’m allowed to mess up daily in the United States. I think there’s a law or something.

I looked at the Catechism I didn’t find anything about not baptizing during Advent.

The Catholic encyclopedia at New Advent is a little dated, and the Catechism is not a legal text of the Church.

However, there is no prohibition in the new code Canon Law (1983) nor in the liturgical books against infant baptism in Advent (or for that matter, most of Lent).

So Advent baptism would be permitted. The only practical concern would be the particular date, as parishes may not necessarily offer baptism on certain dates closer to Christmas. Check with your parish.
