Hi everyone!

Just want to pick your brains on gift ideas for an infant baptism. I’m a terrible gift giver :P. I’m always torn as to whether I should buy a gift for the baby, or for the parents to use for the baby :).

Anyone have good, go-to gift ideas?

Thanks!

Stephen

A medal.

Not a modern medal that is not so well crafted but one done by an artist of old (and signed) (and often thus more expensive so maybe not what your seeking). One can find used ones or if you pm me can send you more info.

Otherwise a nice crucifix -blessed.

If the parent’s do not have one already; a crib medal.
One friend of mine has one she keeps on her baby’s carseat. 🙂

A crucifix, a children’s Bible, a holy card or statue of a saint the child is named after. We’ve always been grateful to receive cash, too.

Have a Mass said for the child on or near enough to her birthday every year.
Way more effective than stuff they will put in a drawer.

🙂

We always gave our children a crucifix to hang in their room(s). They have kept these and still hang them in new locations. But my mother preferred giving the children medals with their Saint’s name. And she would diligently search for such medals. They have kept these as well.

A crucifix to hang in the child’s room
A children’s bible
A children’s rosary
You could also print out the story of the child’ saint namesake and frame in for hanging in his/her room.

At my suggestion my daughter’s god father bought her a bible…a Douy Rheims (sp)…I bought her a children’s bible a couple years later which is what I had originally had in mind…LOL he had no kids of his own. She still has both and he did write something for her in the “fancier” bible.
