If you have suffering in your life, then know that God has embraced you as His son. All of us who follow Christ receive the cross. It’s hard to carry at times. Keep picking up that cross each time it get’s too heavy and you fall. Ask God for the grace to carry that cross. And persevere, it’s worth it. I am no saint, but I know that truly saintly people learn to love their cross. Perhaps you could pray for this too.

I will pray for you, and remember me too please.
Q.3. Infant baptism.
It has been practised since the beginning. An infant does not have to know or desire the sacrament of baptism for it to be effective. That’s why it is still practised. people who have reached the age of reason must desire the sacrament. In the case of an unconscious person who has the age of reason(usually 7yo) there must at least be the likelihood that they would want to be baptised before you can baptise them. With seriously retarded people they may never reach the age of reason so they can be baptised even if they don’t know much about what’s going on.
We choose everything for our children. Do this , don’t do that. We make every decision for them based on what is best for them whether they like it or not. We do the same with regards the faith. We decide for them that it is best to go to Heaven. And you must be baptised to get to Heaven. When they are old enough they are free to reject God if they want. Hope this helps.

Madaglan:
  1. It seems that baptism of the Spirit is a reactivation of the Spirit that we received in sacramental baptism. But why don’t we as Catholics get the charismatic experience when we go through the sacrament of confirmation? I mean, why didn’t I get the gifts of the Spirit during confirmation? I remember being taught specifically about the gifts of the Spirit and being as serious as possible at that age.
  2. Why is it called “baptism in the Spirit”? Shouldn’t it be called something different so not to confuse it with sacramental baptism?
of course we do get charismatic gifts going thru the Sacrament of Confirmation. Otherwise, you would be saying for 19 centuries, people never experience charismatic gifts…
I heard from some Bishop Conference that it should be called “The Outpouring of the Spirit”.

I need a lot of prayer. On March 8, 2005 I will be baptized in the Spirit. I know it is only less than a month away, but I am seriously not sure if I will make it until then. I . .
Anyhow, I am really banking that the Baptism in the Spirit will get rid of these bad thoughts. If not I don’t know what I’d do. I’m having lots of memory problems, too, and other health problems (like back and anxiety problems) as well. !
we of course are praying for you, and have been. You are banking on the effects of a ritual, that while it may be beneficial for some individuals if it represents a submission to the will of the Holy Spirit, is not a sacrament of the Church. As you have stated before, you are seeking for healing by investigating different approaches to spirituality, even different religions. Your goal seems to be relief from various ills, physical, emotional, and spiritual that you are suffering. As long as your goal is deliverance from suffering, you are never going to find what you seek. The answer to suffering in this life is to embrace the Cross. Thank God fervently for every cross life has placed on your shoulders and as Him to show you how your cross will lead you closer to Him and to show you His will. Let your goal be seeking God’s will in all things, and you will begin to find the relief you are desperately seeking.

I wish I could find the words to express my thoughts.

Don’t you see? It isn’t about what He will do for you. It is about you TRUSTING in Him, and turning your life over to Him. Get out of the me. Praise and accept Him. Love Him as He loves You. Stop all the questioning, and trust.

Any time yiou get a negative thought just say STOP in your mind. Repeat and call upon Jesus. Distract your self, and lay it at the foot of the Cross. I was boarderline suicidal after being robbed at gunpoint in my house. It wasn’t easy, and it still isn’t, but I just pray and trust. Praise prayer is very healthy—read the psalms (maybe pray the hours?)–

Praise benefits us—God doesn’t need it. It is His gift to us I attended a Catholic Revival Conference in 2000
Rev 4 [8] “And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all round and within, and day and night they never cease to sing, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”
This scripture tells of the importance of Praise—we MUST praise God with joyful enthusiasm every day. This theme was emphasized over and over through the Revival conference by Msgr Walsh and Fr Tom Di Lorenzo. There were some manifestations of Holy Laughter, but not as many instances as I had remembered from other prayer meetings I had attended there. There was, however an abundance of Spiritual joy which was manifested in the wonderfully exuberant Praise Tongue.
This praise chant rose to such a crescendo that I was transported back to the market place along the Via Dellarosa, but I was there on the first Good Friday. I just stood in awe—that I was in the Church in Philly, but I could “see” and “hear” the sight and sounds of the Way of the Cross. Msgr Walsh told us we would experience the “glory”–that awareness of the presence of the Holy Spirit–as we lifted our physical and spiritual senses in praise, and we were drenched in the glory of the “Living Water”.
God Bless & Keep You

Bingo! Madaglan, I will remember you in my prayers. One thing I would urge you to consider is that at your CConfirmation, you did receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit. As St. Paul tells us, each individula receives different gifts according to the good of the Church. In the time between now and your Charismatic ritual, I would suggest to reflect on the gifts you have received already and how to nuture those. I think you may be in for a letdown if you expect new gifts to be bestowed on you now, than you received already.

Not to demean anyone, but it is my experience that many charismatics place a major emphasis on tongues, for better or worse. If you don’t receive this gift, don’t become discouraged or try to “will” yourself into it. The Spirit has already decided which gifts you should have…focus on those and how to strengthen them and use them for the benefit of the Church, and you won’t be disappointed.

God Bless!

Greetings Church

Greetings Madaglan,

In Confirmation, you received whatever Gifts the Holy Spirit Chose for you.

However, most of our teachings in Confimation classes mention only the Old Testament gifts and usually do not touch upon the Charismatic Gifts of the Old Testament. At least that has been my experience in Southern California, Northern California and in Washington state. I have taught in all three of these areas.
Catholics are not prepared for these gifts.

Also, whenever you receive any sort of gift, isn’t it usually necessary to pull off the ribbons, tear away the wrappings and examine the contents? Are you taught to do this with the gifts you receive at Confirmation? Do you try to discern what has happened? Other things are focused on during your training and classes.
