In an actual emergency with alarms, people running around crying etc then of course people probably wouldn’t video. But I don’t think that’s what was being addressed by the priests I referenced or the op. Only in a prolonged state of emergency where access to certain necessary sacraments is not available how would one go about it. The OP has been told not to expect a priest o baptize until late into 2021. So the priests I referenced we’re speaking of how to do so when access to the sacraments is off the table and they made the prudential recommendation that you video it so as to assist the parish in recording it, and scheduling an anointing when things open up in the area. I’m not sure why this is a point of contention with you. It’s also helpful to note that while some of us are back in Church, others may still be barred from participation in the sacraments either by the state or a bishop.

Because it makes it sound like that is more of a necessity than it is, like the church will have a big problem if it isn’t done. And then there will be frantic calls to parishes and posts to CAF: we weren’t able to video the baptism, does that mean the baby wasn’t baptized? Etc.

Maybe just putting it as an “if you want to…” “the parish might find it helpful…” instead of “priests recommend you video so as to assist in recording the baptism.”

While it’s helpful to the parish it’s particularly prudent to video the baptism. In light of recent ruling by the CDF about the validity of baptisms ( even catholic ones) that did not use the proper Trinitarian formula. Imagine the posts to caf or parishes when one says “ gosh I don’t remember if I said in the name of the father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit”. There have been posters on here who had to be baptized because correct formula was not used. What better way than to present to your parish or your child later, or anyone at all that yes, proper form was there!? Your opposition to this is odd. Perhaps I’m misunderstanding you because whipping your phone out to baptize someone during a pandemic is not really that hard. And it saves lots of effort later not just for your parish’s convienience but for your own child’s future sacramental life. There have been priests in these USA who, because of video evidence have had to be baptized, ordained etc because form was not followed. 25 years down the road when little Timmy wants to be married or ordained or just is curious it would be nice if the parents could just say, here is your baptism, not, gee son, I think I said the father and the son and the Holy Spirit but I might have just said Jesus, so it’s all good. (The CDF has informed us it isnt all good.). It’s such a simple suggestion, nowhere. Has anyone even implied it has to be done but for Pete’s sake why WOULDNT you want to remind or suggest someone do that!?
Honestly I don’t understand what it is we are arguing about. Perhaps you misunderstood me or I you.

Because they can get a conditional baptism of there is any question.

My problem was more with the way you worded it, as I said before.
