I want to get my baby baptised. Myself and her father are no longer together. There was domestic abuse and violence throughout and rape and he shook the baby. He isn’t allowed near me. Do I need his permission to have her baptised as he won’t be allowed to attend. He may soon be in prison once this has all gone through court. The police have said a possible 10 years to life Sentence.
Thank you. Any advice greatly appreciated.

^ This. His permission isn’t needed, you don’t need to ever contact him. I’m so sorry for what you’ve been through.

Lord please heal Bethfoster and her child from the harm and violence that has been inflicted upon them.

Mother Mary please intercede for their health, happiness, and peace.

His permission won’t be necessary. Depending on your state laws he might not even get rights to the child anyway if he gets convicted and put in prison.

You do need some godparents for your son. I hope you find some good, helpful ones, since his father will probably not be in his life. Please take some time and choose godparents who will give you support and help as you raise him.
Look for people who are strong, faithful Catholics with a solid marriage.
