Baptism question

My wife was at an “Art in the Park” yesterday and she started talking to one of her customers who attends Mass at our old parish. She enjoys going there and feels close to God.

But she has a problem. She doesn’t know if she has been baptized. The situation is this. She remembers going to church when she was young. Her family was involved in a car accident when she was a child. Her family was killed and she survived with a closed head injury. As a result she has some memory loss so she can’t remember if she’s been bapitzed. She’s checked with the local parishes and none seem to have a record of her baptism but her father was military so the record could be anywhere. She’s asked a priest about it but he apparently didn’t know what to do.

Can she get baptized?

She’s planning on visiting another show my wife is doing in a couple of weeks and I’d dearly love to provide her with an answer.

Did she ever receive her First Communion or Confirmation? Is she married? If so, someone must have determined that she had been baptized. Perhaps the parish where she received those sacraments can help.

Another option would be to contact the diocese where she believes she was baptized.

she needs to speak to the priest directly
if a parent was in the military she may have been baptized on a base and the record would be with the Military Archdiocese in Washington DC, it is worth sending birth date, parents names etc. to them to see

if necessary when she prepares for the other sacraments she can be conditionally baptized. there are no barriers to the sacraments here. If she never received instruction in the faith she will do that during this time. perhaps since you are already friends you could serve as sponsors for her and help her along with this.

She should talk to the Pastor of the church. If after due diligence in searching for proof it is determined that there is none she can be receive a conditional baptism. This will open her up to receive all the other Sacraments. She may need to go through RCIA or whatever education program they have that is suitable.
