Acts 2:40
With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”
41 Those who accepted his** message** were baptized, and about three thousand were** added** to their number that day.

FACT: There is only ONE son… Just “ONE!” Ten Sons, would be nine sons, to many sons! (1) IF…
If you are NOT in the body of Jesus you are NOT “A Child of God”! It is just this simple!

Three Thousand were** “ADDED”** to the Body of Jesus because they accepted the Message from the Church! The MESSAGE?!
The** Message** was “be saved be Baptized”!! The Church Pleaded, she warned… be saved!
All who accepted the Message were saved… 3000 were added to the Body of Jesus in one day!

Baptism** “ADDS”"** you to the Body Of Jesus… Communion "KEEPS" you in his Body!
John 6:55
For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink.
56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood** remains in me, and I in him.**

ALL DIE… if they are NOT nourished! All Must Eat to live… the Body of Jesus is no different!
Ephesians 5:29
After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he** feeds **and cares for it, just as Christ does the church— 30 for we are members of his body.
🙂

Another thing to look at is 1 Pt 3: 19-21
  1. In it he also went to preach to the spirits in prison,
  2. who had once been disobedient while God patiently waited in the days of Noah during the building of the ark, in which a few persons, eight in all, were saved through water.
  3. This prefigured baptism, which saves you now. It is not a removal of dirt from the body but an appeal to God 7 for a clear conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
If we look at the passage deeper, there are two different greek words used for the word “save.” the greek word that is used in verse 20 is the word diasozo, which means:
    • to preserve through danger, to bring safely through (to save, i.e. cure one who is sick, bring him through)
    • to save, keep from perishing
    • to save out of danger, rescue

  1. The greek word that was used in verse 21 is sozo, which means
to save, keep safe and sound, to rescue from danger or destruction
    • one (from injury or peril)
      1. to save a suffering one (from perishing), i.e. one suffering from disease, to make well, heal, restore to health
      2. Code:
to preserve one who is in danger of destruction, to save or rescue

      • to save in the technical biblical sense
        1. negatively 1b

        • to deliver from the penalties of the Messianic judgment 1b
        • to save from the evils which obstruct the reception of the Messianic deliverance
That is the same greek word that is used in Act 2: 40, which is also referring to baptism. It is amazing when the author used the stronger greek word for save when they are referring to baptism.

WOOPS!

You almost have it [a proper understanding].

TRUE; Baptism does save if one NEVER SINS AGAIN… EVER!

** 1John.1 Verses 8 to 10:** "If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us."

** 1John.5 Verses 16 to 17**"If any one sees his brother committing what is not a mortal sin, he will ask, and God will give him life for those whose sin is not mortal. There is sin which is mortal; I do not say that one is to pray for that. All wrongdoing is sin, **but there is sin which is not mortal. **

** John.20 Verses 20 to 23**]" When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.** Jesus said to them **again, “Peace be with you. **As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.” **And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”

Take Up your Cross and Follow Me

Phil.2: 8 “And being found in human form he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross Luke.9 :23 And he said to all, "If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. Mark.8: 34 And he called to him the multitude with his disciples, and said to them, "If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. Luke.9: 23 And he said to all, "If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. Luke.14: 7 Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me, cannot be my disciple.” Matt.5: 19 “Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. “ Matt.19: 17 “And he said to him, “Why do you ask me about what is good? One there is who is good. ***If you would enter life, keep the commandments.” ***

Baptism is a Gift from God, but with strings attached!

Love and prayers,
Pat

When St. Peter is speaking in 1 Peter 3, he’s using “saves” in a different sense than you are. You are speaking of final salvation, he’s speaking of being saved from one’s past sins.

A neat typological example comes from the Israelites crossing the Red Sea. They were baptized in the waters of the Red Sea, freeing them from the slavery of the Egyptians. We, when we’re baptized, are saved from slavery to sin – our sins are crushed in the waters of baptism just as the Egyptians were crushed in the waters of the Red Sea. However, the Israelites still had to persevere in the desert before they were able to enter the Promised Land, just as we have to persevere to the end if we are to enter our Promised land (final salvation). See the first half of 1 Cor 10 for St. Paul’s commentary on this.

Baptism is necessary for salvation but being baptised does not necessarily mean you will be saved. The state of your soul at death determines if you are saved.

You are wrong and obviously don’t know the Church teachings. The Church teaching is clear and unambiguous.

Baptism is NECESSARY for salvation. To deny this is heresy.

THE NECESSITY OF BAPTISM

CCC 1257 The Lord himself affirms that Baptism is necessary for salvation. He also commands his disciples to proclaim the Gospel to all nations and to baptize them. Baptism is necessary for salvation for those to whom the Gospel has been proclaimed and who have had the possibility of asking for this sacrament. The Church does not know of any means other than Baptism that assures entry into eternal beatitude; this is why she takes care not to neglect the mission she has received from the Lord to see that all who can be baptized are “reborn of water and the Spirit.” God has bound salvation to the sacrament of Baptism, but he himself is not bound by his sacraments.

CCC 1258 The Church has always held the firm conviction that those who suffer death for the sake of the faith without having received Baptism are baptized by their death for and with Christ. This Baptism of blood, like the desire for Baptism, brings about the fruits of Baptism without being a sacrament.

CCC 1259 For catechumens who die before their Baptism, their explicit desire to receive it, together with repentance for their sins, and charity, assures them the salvation that they were not able to receive through the sacrament.

CCC 1260 “Since Christ died for all, and since all men are in fact called to one and the same destiny, which is divine, we must hold that the Holy Spirit offers to all the possibility of being made partakers, in a way known to God, of the Paschal mystery.” Every man who is ignorant of the Gospel of Christ and of his Church, but seeks the truth and does the will of God in accordance with his understanding of it, can be saved. It may be supposed that such persons would have desired Baptism explicitly if they had known its necessity.

CCC 1261 As regards children who have died without Baptism, the Church can only entrust them to the mercy of God, as she does in her funeral rites for them. Indeed, the great mercy of God who desires that all men should be saved, and Jesus’ tenderness toward children which caused him to say: “Let the children come to me, do not hinder them,” allow us to hope that there is a way of salvation for children who have died without Baptism. All the more urgent is the Church’s call not to prevent little children coming to Christ through the gift of holy Baptism.

You are mixed up…
The “Thief on the cross” was NOT baptized… He went to heaven!
Paradise is a Greek word… It means “EDEN”!
Eden is in heaven… it is in the first book of scripture… It is a GARDEN!
Adam and Eve were in a Garden!

The Last book of scripture takes place in the Throne room… The Throne room is in heaven also… it is NOT a Garden! The “Thief On The Cross” did** not** go to the Throne room…
Luke 23:43
Jesus answered him, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in** paradise**.”

NOTE: The Catholic Church is IN the the Throne room… The Apostles are sitting on thrones in the Throne room! The Last book has no mention of any Garden… it all takes place in the Throne room! ONLY the Child of the King inherits a throne!

**THINK: **The Queen Of England… has Seventy million subjects… all are allowed access to her Palace Gardens… all can enter her Gardens… ONLY her Children can enter the Throne room… only they will inherit a Throne! The “Thief On The Cross” was NOT Child of God. he was NOT a Child of the King!

**REMEMBER: **God has only one son… Just one!!!
thistle Ten sons, are nine sons to many sons… Got it? One (1) and only One Son! His name is Jesus!

thistle You MUST be “IN” Jesus to be a Child of God!!

THINK: Jesus sits to the right of the Father… so… So all** “IN”** Jesus will sit to the right of the father! Jesus will judge Angels… So… So all “IN” the Body of Jesus will Judge Angels!

Scripture…
Acts 2:40
With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”
41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.

Do you see it?
Baptism “ADDED” 3000 people to the Body Of Jesus!

The “Thief On The Cross” was** NOT** IN Jesus. Jesus had NOT yet sent the “GIFT of the Holy Spirit”! It takes “Baptism by the Bride”!
It takes receiving the GIFT from the Groom to be re-FORMED to be newly FORMED into the Body of Jesus!

THINK: Adam was formed from EARTH & SPIRIT!
Jesus is a second Adam… he must be Equal to the first. Jesus must also be formed from EARTH & SPIRIT!
The Bride Re-FORMS the “Dust Of The EARTH” into the form Of Jesus the second Adam!
The Groom sends the GIFT of the Holy Spirit! Thus The Body of Jesus is also formed from “Earth & Spirit!”

The Catholic has Two, Two, Two parents NOT ONE!
Groom the Father… God!
Bride the Mother… Church!

Baptism is important to have an inheritance… To be formed into the Body of Jesus!
CONTINUES… below

Jews Greeks… Hindu, Muslim Chinese yes even The DUTCH can all enter heaven if they are RIGHTEOUS!!! All can enter if the "Give of themselves in Love… Good works… Works of the HEART!
1 John 4:16
And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love.** Whoever** lives in love lives in God, and God in him.

thistle Do you see the word… .** Whoever** ???
Jew, Greek, Hindu, Muslim, Chinese, yes even The DUTCH all fall into this category… The “WHOEVER” loves Category, people that LOVE have God inside! 1 John 4;16 (above)
thistle QUESTION: Would God put himself into hell? The “Thief On The Cross” falls into this “Whoever” category!
God is LOVE!
🙂

The “Thief on the cross” was NOT baptized…
Not only was he baptized (baptisms of blood and desire) but he believed in Christ, confessed his sinfulness, acknowledged Jesus before men (confessed with his tongue), and did penance.
Furthermore, where did you get the idea that the thief was never baptized? Did you insert it in your Bible? Scripture is silent on whether he was water baptized.

Acts 2:40
With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”
41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.
Do you see it?
Baptism “ADDED” 3000 people to the Body Of Jesus!
Actually the three thousand were added to the number who were apart from the “corrupt generation” according to the verses you quote. Jesus’ body is not discussed.

NO…
You are MOST wrong… the Thief On The Cross was** NOT** baptized by the Church!
He might have, he could have been Baptized… by the disciples… he could have been baptized by John for the forgiveness of sins… but not by the Groom… It would NOT have been a complete re-FORMATION!!
It takes the WATER plus the Gift!

The 'Thief On The Cross" was NOT in the Body of Jesus, he could not have had access to the Throne room!

I showed you the Church teaching earlier. It teaches that Baptism is NECESSARY for salvation and that this was affirmed by our Lord.

Are you telling us that the Church teaching is wrong?

By the way you are again wrong about another issue of Baptism. Baptism does NOT require water. That is the normal means of Baptism, i.e. running water and in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirt. However, there are other forms of valid Baptism: Baptism of Blood and Baptism of Desire.

Are you not even aware of the Church teachings about the various forms of Baptism?

Hello** thistle** how are you?
I am a Catholic and I am aware of the Churches TEACHING on salvation!!! And Baptism of desire!!!

Salvation… “All men can be saved… NOT just Catholic’s” this is CHURCH teaching!
THINK:
A man born in China in the second Century… This man never, ever heard of Jesus or the bible… he never, ever heard of the Catholic Church or Baptism!
This “man traveled up and down the river in his “junk” two miles each way all of his life; he fed his family, he gave the widow fish to eat… He Loved his wife and children!”
The man dies… Does he go to the lake of FIRE?

Scripture: “God is LOVE!”
If this man has LOVE, he has God inside… Does God send himself to the lake of Fire??!!

FACT:
Jesus died for all men… The Protestant will tell you… 'the Chinaman will go to the Lake of fire", they will say… “You MUST take Jesus as personal lord and savior OR you will not go to heaven!”
This Protestant idea of salvation is, keeping all peoples out of heaven that cannot read… all mentally challenged etc etc basically only the Protestant… will enter.

FACT: If you are RIGHTEOUS then you will enter. NOT if you are baptized!
1 John 3:7
Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. **He who does what is right is righteous, **just as he is righteous.

Do you see it?? **He who does what is right is righteous, **
You MUST DO RIGHT!

The Sheep and the Goats are the exact same… Both address Jesus as “LORD”! The **Sheep are Righteous… “They GIVE to Jesus” they go to heaven! They give water, they visit the sick, they dress the naked…etc
The Goats are the Protestant’s… They also say LORD… But they are NOT righteous… They do NO- THING… Nothing! These people go to the “Lake Of Fire”! These people have “Faith ALONE”!
Matthew 25:37
"Then
the righteous **will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?
38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?
39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

thistle The “Thief on the Cross” had Faith mixed with REPENTANCE! He was RIGHTEOUS… he went to heaven but** NOT** to the Throne room… He was **NOT **baptized!
If he was Baptized he would have gone to the throne room… The Church is in the Throne room!
All Baptized are "Re-FORMED into the Body of Jesus!
They are formed into God’s, one and only one son!
If you are NOT…
Not formed into the Body of Jesus then you are NOT…
Then you are NOT a “Child Of God”!

If you are NOT baptized you can still see salvation… as the Chinaman, If you LOVE you will enter…
thistle You do NOT need to be baptized to LOVE!!!

Muslims, Hindus, Greek, Buddhist… YES even the Dutch, can enter heaven IF they are NOT baptized! But they can’t enter the Throne room…
The CHURCH the Body of Jesus is IN the Throne room… Don’t believe me???
Read revelations…Catholic’s call it “Apocalypse” all takes place with the CHURCH in the Throne room!!!

To be IN the Church, you MUST be Baptized!
To be IN the Body of Jesus, you MUST be Baptized!
🙂

It “IS” necessary to, “Enter the Body of Jesus”!
3000 People were ADDED to the** 'Body of Jesus"** because they accepted the MESSAGE of the Church!
OK if you say so; but it’s Not what Jesus teaches::o

**John.3: 5 **"Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, [Baptized] he cannot enter the kingdom of God.”
The “Thief on the Cross” was NOT baptized, he entered Heaven, he was NOT in the Body of Jesus, he is NOT a Child of the KING!
Dogknox
Actually he was Baptized.

There are three types of Baptism. By water in the Spirit, By Blood [martyrdom] and Baptism of Desire. Jeus who is God read his heart and saw there there a desire to be Baptized.

As for **1 John:7 **" It reads “Little children, let no one deceive you. He who does right is righteous, as he is righteous.”

To be rightous one must be informed AND OBEDIENT! See Jphn 3:5 above.
If dear friend, you actually do accept the bible, please review these passages:

2nd. Peter Chapter One verse 20-21 “First of all you must understand this, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, because no prophecy ever came by the impulse of man, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God. “

Psalm 30 : 6 “Do not add to his words, lest he rebuke you, and you be found a liar.”

2 Peter 3: 14 –17 “Therefore, beloved, since you wait for these, be zealous to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace. And count the forbearance of our Lord as salvation. So also our beloved brother Paul wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, speaking of this as he does in all his letters. There are some things in them hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other scriptures. You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, beware lest you be carried away with the error of lawless men and lose your own stability. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.”

1Tim.3: 15 “if I am delayed, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, [SINGULAR] which is the church [SINGULAR] of the living God, the pillar and bulwark of the truth.” [SINGULAR]

2nd. Tim. 3:16 All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work

Rom.10:17 “So faith comes from what is heard, [meaning taught] and what is heard comes by the preaching of Christ”

**2 Cor. 4: 2 “**We have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways; we refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God’s word, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. 3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing.

Love and prayers,

Hello** thistle** how are you?
I am a Catholic and I am aware of the Churches TEACHING on salvation!!! And Baptism of desire!!!

Salvation…** “All men can be saved**… NOT just Catholic’s” this is CHURCH teaching!

He was RIGHTEOUS… he went to heaven but** NOT** to the Throne room…** He was **NOT ****baptized!

🙂
You seem to be confused about what happened before and after the death and Resurrection of Christ.
Prior to the coming of Christ the righteous were not in Heaven. See the Church teaching below on this. The righteous were saved when Christ went down to free those who had already died and were deprived of the vision of God but had the desire to be with God (pretty much defines baptism of desire).

CCC 633 Scripture calls the abode of the dead, to which the dead Christ went down, “hell” - Sheol in Hebrew or Hades in Greek - because those who are there are deprived of the vision of God. Such is the case for all the dead, whether evil or righteous, while they await the Redeemer: which does not mean that their lot is identical, as Jesus shows through the parable of the poor man Lazarus who was received into “Abraham’s bosom”: “It is precisely these holy souls, who awaited their Savior in Abraham’s bosom, whom Christ the Lord delivered when he descended into hell.” Jesus did not descend into hell to deliver the damned, nor to destroy the hell of damnation, but to free the just who had gone before him.

Christ died to redeem everyone and give everyone the chance for salvation (remember redemption and salvation are not the same).
To be saved two things are NECESSARY: Baptism and soul at death being in a state of grace.
The Church clearly teaches that Baptism is NECESSARY for salvation. Its a silly comment to say only those in the Church have to be baptised. By definition thoise in the Church ARE baptised.
The Church also clearly teaches that there is no salvation outside the Church. How does this apply to those who have never heard of Christ and his Church? Invincible ignorance can apply and such people may be saved who have no knowledge about Christ and his Church but live a life according to the teachings of Christ without realising it. This would be an implicit Baptism of Desire.

As for the criminal on the cross he was saved because he effectively confessed to Christ and had a Baptism of Desire.

Those who are not formally Catholic are deemed to be Catholic (hence IN the Church) through Baptism of Blood and Baptism of Desire.

In the case of anyone who rejects Christ (Muslims, Buddhists, Atheists or whoever) they are NOT saved.

Stop quoting and misinterpreting Scripture. Look at what the Church teaches.

PJM THINK…
The man born in the second century in China.
This man never, ever has heard of Jesus, never mind baptism!!
IF the Chinaman LOVES… IF he gives of himself in LOVE!
If …
If he gives of self from his heart he will enter heaven!
God would not put himself into the Lake of Fire… “GOD IS LOVE”!
If a man LOVES then he has God inside!

I reply….YES LOOK!!!
Matthew 5:19
Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least** in the kingdom of heaven,** but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called** great in the kingdom of heaven.**

Do you see it???
**IN the KINGDOM!!! **

NOW…
Now read this…
Matthew 11:11
I tell you the truth: Among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

John the Baptist is NOT…
NOT in the Kingdom!.… John died before the Church was formed…
John died before he could be aDDED to the Body of Jesus!
John Died before he could be added to 'the Catholic Church!

John was NOT in the Kingdom because he was NOT Baptized!
If he was Baptized he would be “ADDED” to the Body Of Jesus!
