Hello
My question; Is baptism a prerequesite for salvation for a catholic?
 
It’s a pre-requisite for EVERYONE, according to the Bible, though not according to pop-evangelicals.

Yes, because it is how we are initially washed clean of our sins and incorporated into Christ’s Church.

Jesus established the Sacrament of Baptism in John 3:5 and in Matthew 28:16-20. There is a passage that explains the salvific effects of Baptism in I Peter 3:17-22.

To clarify: God might well make an exception. But HE makes the exceptions, not us.

A small but critical point to recall here . . .

To be a Catholic one must be baptized Catholic or have been a baptized Christian who was later received into full communion with the Church.
