Question:
I was given up for adoption as an infant. The Foster parents who cared for me while I was waiting for permanent placement were Catholic and had me baptized? as a baby. My adoptive parents are not Catholic. Was the act done by the foster parents an entrance into Catholic society? I have had a facination with the Catholic faith my whole life…I feel God has been leading me to the Faith, but yet I dont know why other than to belive that I was intilled with his Grace as a baby. Any Ideas out there?

God desires to bring all men and women to Himself. You are no exception! When you were baptized you were indeed instilled with grace and with the Holy Spirit. God has never forgotten about you and He wants you to know Him more fully. He is leading you to the Faith. He is leading you to Himself. Heed His call!

Baptism does confer great graces from God. Baptism leaves an indelible sign on your soul that you are part of the body of Christ and that you belong to God. While it alone is not a complete entrance into Catholic society, it does provide you the grace to respond to God’s call to come further into the faith.

Do you know the name of the Church where you were baptised? It probably was recorded and you could get a copy.

Baptisms are always recorded in the Catholic Church.

Unless you’re very old, it shouldn’t be difficult to get a copy of your baptismal certificate from the parish where you were baptized.

usccb.org/ Has information on dioceses. Most parishes have web sites. You could contact the dioceses and ask for assistance in finding it.
