I have read that the Catholic Church recognizes some protestant baptisms as real and therefore will not rebaptize a convert to the Catholic Church.

I am intending on going through the next RCIA program with the intention of converting.

I was baptised in what could be considered an almost cult fringe Christian religion. It is a religion similar to JWs. Does the Catholic Church consider my baptism valid. I am having doubts that it is.

this would be something to discuss with your pastor at the Catholic Church when you begin instruction.

If the group believes in and baptizes in the name of the Trinity, with water, then yes it would be valid.

If the group does not believe in the Trinity (like JWs, Mormons, etc) or does not baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (oneness Pentacostals baptize only in the name of Jesus), then the baptism is doubtful.

1ke’s response is correct.

It’s possible that your pastor may choose to offer you conditional baptism if you’re unable to discern whether you were validly baptized the first time. The priest would then baptize you saying something like, “If you are not already baptized, I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”

Thank you for your answers. The church I was baptized by was christadelphian. They baptize in the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit but they don’t accept the Trinity. The Son was viewed as purely human but special somehow only in the sense that he didn’t sin, and the Holy Spirit was a force originally regarded by the founder as being electricity.

I think my baptism is doubtful.

Then discuss it with your pastor, he can do a conditional baptism.
