Questions regarding baptizing in the Catholic church.
  1. Why do Catholic’s baptize their infants before they’re 4 months old? Can babies be baptized in their first or second year instead?
  2. What if the couple does not have any two special people to become Godmother and Godfather? What can the Catholic church do for them in that situation?
Thank you.

In response to your first question, infants are baptized so young to both introduce them into the Body of Christ in the Catholic Church as well as to protect them should some horrible tragedy take their lives when they are still babies.

I’m not sure about the second question though, sorry:)
God bless,
Britty

  1. My eldest child was baptized at 3months and my youngest was baptized at 6months. During the baptism of my youngest there where 5 other children getting baptized…the age range 4months-3years. SO not every Catholic baptizes the kids that young (4months) some wait for whatever reason.
  2. My eldest son has a GOdmother and Godfather who are his Aunt and Uncle. My youngest has only a Godmother…the Church has no problem with the child only having ONE godparent as long as they are in good standing with the Church etc.

We are converting to the Catholic church. My daughter is seven and she will be baptised this Easter.🙂

  1. Because all children are conceived with Original Sin and are therefore subject to satan until Baptism which removes them from satans grasp until they are capable of reasoning right from wrong.
  2. The Church will supply a Godparent from among the community if requested.

Your daughter is a Catechumen. Since she went through the Rite of Acceptance into the Order of Catechumens. She has a special place in relation to the Church and protection from satan because she was anointed with the Oil of Catechumens at the Rite and stated her desire for Baptism.

Could anyone tell me;

Are there any instances in the NT where Christ himself actually baptizes someone?

Thank You

Christ always Baptizes everyone, however always through the hands of another human being.
