is it nesessary to prove baptism to receive sacraments?
is it nesessary to prove baptism to receive sacraments?
Yes, as often a baptism certificate reveals unusual information. For sacraments such as confirmation and marriage a record will need to be made in the place of baptism, so a certificate is necessary to correctly identify this.is it nesessary to prove baptism to receive sacraments?
I think it depends on the sacraments.Yes.
Baptism is the “gateway” to the other Sacraments, so one must prove that they were validly Baptized to in order to receive anyother Sacraments.
If a person entering the Church cannot produce a certificate of baptism then they will receive what is called a “conditional baptism” before they can be confirmed in order to ensure that they are baptized.is it nesessary to prove baptism to receive sacraments?
Most certainly to be ordained. They won’t even talk to you about entering seminary unless you’re confirmed.I think it depends on the sacraments.
I don’t think anybody’s going to ask you for your baptismal certificate if you show up in the communion line or the confessional at another parish.
But to get married or received into the Church, and probably to be ordained, that’s another matter.
Yup! A valid baptism will be recorded at the local parish sacramental books and the family more than likely given a signed certificate by the presiding prist/deacon.is it nesessary to prove baptism to receive sacraments?
However, if you want to enter sacramental prep at a parish then you would need to submit a baptismal record. So this includes first communion prep/confession or confirmation.I think it depends on the sacraments.

It must be a policy of that parish as the only time the Church requires a new certificate is for marriage - and even then that’s if you ask for a marriage in a parish other than your baptismal parish (in that case they’ll probably just put one in your marriage file without mentioning it). However, if you want to enter sacramental prep at a parish then you would need to submit a baptismal record. So this includes first communion prep/confession or confirmation.
What gets me, is that they want newly issued baptismal certificates for everything. In the parish where I received everything except baptism we had to go and get a new baptismal certificate for each new sacrament. Issued within 6 months of the sacrament. I am not sure I understand the logic behind that.
They want to make sure that they get a certificate with all annotations, to ensure that you haven’t already received the sacrament for which you’re a candidate. However, if you want to enter sacramental prep at a parish then you would need to submit a baptismal record.
