Yep, amongst other “satanic” things, they are throwing every Bible into the fire but the KJV. What are your thoughts?
My thought when I first read this was that I’m glad there are only 14 idiots in this “church.” And isn’t it nice to think that Matthew, Mark, Luke and John all waited until they graduated from Oxford before they wrote their Gospels. 😉

Some more information might be nice. Which Baptist church? Where?

Do you have a news or blog link which supports your claim?

edit: forgot the link =P. Ya’ll are fast!
Well, there are fourteen people who will have a cozy fire on Halloween. Hope they have a hose handy.

Diana…

“If the KJV was good enough for Jesus, it’s good enough for me!”

Most Baptists are embarrassed by this; kind of like they are of Fred Phelp’s bigoted “Baptist” community. I’m pretty sure no one on this thread has generalized yet, but I’d just like to say for the sake of those legitimate Baptists, let’s not judge Baptists in general about this.

Them crazy Baptists
I enjoyed looking over their list of authors they will be burning. Not often that one sees the names James Dobson, Billy Graham, Tim Layhe, Mother Theresa and the Pope on a sign together, is it?

Sadly they are not the alone ones out there who feel that way. The NIV Bible has been vilified by many in the King James Only Movement.

A women by the name of Gail Riplinger has a lot too do with that nonsense. She wrote a book a while back called New Age Bible Versions. BTW, I know where she got her doctorate. Her whole background was manipulated to be more than what it is.

How insulting to God! I guess God could not preserve his words for the 1600 yrs prior to the 1611 King James? I am glad that most mainstream baptist I know, even if they love the King James, would never burn a bible.

This is what you get when you bring the “uranium” of God’s word outside the “reactor vessel” of historical Church interpretation. Weird reactions take place and people are damaged.

~ hiding my Satanic New Living Translation Bible ~

This is insane they are Bibles even a poor edition deserves to be treated with some dignity and the NLT is a very good edition IMHO. These people need to do something constructive with their time and energy.

hehehehe…

I have my Trusty King James. But at night when no one is looking, I drag out the forbidden Rainbow Study Bible from it’s secret hiding place. Oh Lord, no telling what they would say about a Rainbow bible. But I have an idea. lol

Oh, but they ARE.

they are serving as bad examples.

Yes, just what I was thinking. Treat the word of God with respect.

This reminds me of the time I visited a mosque. They were having an open house so I went because I was curious. Well, the mosque prints out a weekly newsletter. And my point is, in the newsletter was this: “Please dispose of this newsletter in a dignified manner because it contains the name of Allah and of our prophet.”

So, if they can be careful of a newsletter, then shame on these people for not having any regard for God’s word, even though they don’t like the translations. It’s times like this I’m glad I came back to the Church.

Matthew 6:34b (King James Version)

“Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”

Now this is out of context. But, so are they.

I also can assure you that these folks do not come close to representing all (or any other) Baptists. If they grow from this: all I can say is, I am glad that I live in Georgia.

Hey, I have a Rainbow Study Bible, too. I bought it because I thought all the colors were really cool. They’re a little distracting, but still kind of cool.

I went to their website and it’s down and cannot be accessed. I guess they got more attention than they bargained for.

The sad thing is that these people call themselves Christians, then every person on the web who reads this story, will typecast all Christians in this light. I agree with FCEGM, thank the Lord that there are only 14 of them! Hopefully they don’t reproduce.
