I think there was a similar thread to this that was lost during the forum crash. (Titled something like , “I was banned from XYZ forums”)

I thought about posting on forums like that, but it probably would be a waste of time even if I had a question or something.

There was one site I went to that was similiar, I believe worst. Catholics were called pagans, idol worshippers, devils, a false religion and so on. They didn’t believe in ANY authority except the bible. Baptism was out, “WATER can’t save you!” They were very cruel and in fact in the past they said it was so bad that the Catholics boycotted the site. There were few Christians there. I guess I am not supposed to say the name of the site but I can tell you it rhymes with HARM.

I just signed up for the Baptist Board. They have yet to approve my membership. We’ll see how it goes. They should allow me in since I gave the right answer as to how I’m going to heaven. Basically, I just paraphrased the Apostles’ Creed and said the Jesus died for my sins, rose from the dead, and is now at the right hand of the Father. I’ll let everybody know how it goes.

Guys,
I signed up on that board too…

Yesterday was the day I received the inaugural insult :bounce: .

… It took only 10-15 posts before I was served the “your church is unclean” argument !! 😃 That was fast ! Can anybody here beat me to it ?:dancing:

Alex.

Ah, yes! “HARM” certainly is a good description of that site. It is toxic. I’ve been posting on-and-off there for a while now. There are not many substantial arguments leveled against the Church. Usually, if you can counter the “drive-by” objection raised by the anti-Catholic, the response you get is in the form of a personal attack. The argument is very low-brow for the most part. I think some at the site are truly seeking to broaden their understanding of the Catholic faith, but many are just posting responses to bait the Catholics that come to defend the faith.

Interestingly, one of Karl Keating’s E-Letters actually addressed the fact that a poster to that forum warned people to stay clear of the Catholic Answers Forum because of the high level of argument in support of the Catholic Faith. Way to go everyone! 👍 Here’s the link to Karl Keating’s E-letter of July 25, 2006: catholic.com/newsletters/kke_060725.asp

I can’t believe it took that long! 😃 Welcome to the party! 😛

Well, so much for the Baptist forum. I had my account suspended before I was even allowed to post! I guess they didn’t like my paraphrase of part of “The Apostles Creed” as the reason I believe I’m going to heaven. So much for their frequent quotation of Romans 10:9.

Basically, the Baptists are contradicting their own teaching by banning me for saying that because they always quote Romans 10:9 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (KJV, which they always use)

Also I realized the unity of the Catholic church is a very comforting thing.
A virtually all-Catholic forum can be a comforting thing as well.

Going into Catholic-hostile environments is not easy and many people get out fast because they prefer a place such as this where one is never truly put on the spot about “Catholic questions” because there are always several people who can answer the questions you can’t.

I’ve found that going to multi-religious or multi-denomination sites (whose stance on Catholicism ranges from misinformed to hatred) puts me in a position in which I must be able to answer questions well and be very informed about my faith. You quickly learn that you have to know more about your faith and have to learn how to answer questions well.

The truth is that many people here at CA get sort of cocky about their faith and are never really put to the test because of the comfortable environment.
