i grew up in a bapist church the same as my family and i started to go back but didnt fell very comablte , and i cant watch sermons on tv , but i can watch the solom mass/mass and it just fine and i like it . and i have this thing where i like preists and nuns and everything but im not cathloic though i wish my family would been does anyone know what it means

are you able to go to your local parish and participate at mass? you may want to try it, to see what happens. im a former baptist, who like you always had a pull to Catholocism. could have save myself alot of heartache if i would have found out why sooner. wouldnt hurt to talk to a priest or local Catholic either. if you go to mass, and the people seem kinda distant, its not intentional. either they are really intent on the ritual before mass(i say the roseary). or they are just checking you out for later reference.lol! well im going to mass this sat and i was told to stop by the parish to meet the office manger and she can tell me a little more about it

that is wonderful.👍 did i also see that you prefer the solemn mass? if its not there keep looking. i love the more traditional mass. nothing against the contemporary mass, just a preference. the focus in both is on the Eucharist, and Christ actually present with us. keep listening to that still small voice inside you. it could be very important and life changing. peace 🙂
 
well it just the one i watch i also watch the just mass i like them both alot and thanks i will , and at least the church im going to there nice and helpful my sister went to preschool there so thanks for all the opinons thanks

Im a lifelong Baptist. I married a Catholic and decided to learn about the faith. Well I’ve been hit by a bulldozer! Not only have my eyes opened about the truths of the Catholic faith but my heart as well. I have questioned God, demanded and argued with Him and fought as loud and hard as I could but God has patiently answered me. Often the Priest will make a causal comment that is the exact answer to the question I have DEMANDED answered. God loves me (and us) so much that He even sent a former Baptist pastor to speak at the RICA class. wow I was so overwhelmed in tears the last piece of the wall FELL crashing down. Listen and ask, pray, question and seek. the answers will be served to you on a silver platter !🙂

Many times God isn’t a booming voice, but more of a gentle whisper.

It is when we are actually quiet, and listening that we hear him speak the loudest.

God constantly draws us to Himself. I have found God’s voice being very gentle. He nudges us along in the direction He wishes us to go. Pray to hear his voice and in silence you will hear it.

I will pray for you tonight.

I totally understand where you are at. Quite a few years ago (more than I care to count), I began to feel “detached” from my Pentecostal church. It wasn’t that anyone did anything wrong - they were wonderful people and I loved the fellowship, but I began to feel as if I didn’t belong.

Like you, I was intrigued by the Mass and I began to study Catholic doctrine. At first, it was scary, but there was a part of me that was drawn to it. It simply made sense, both naturally, physically, and spiritually. I loved just sitting in the Church and talking to God and I loved going to the Mass (although I was disappointed with not being able to partake in the Eucharist at the time).

It appears that you are beginning a similar journey and I am excited for you. I would pick up a Catechism of the Catholic Church and begin reading it. I would also talk to your local parish priest about attending RCIA (Roman Catholic Initiation for Adults). There you will learn about the Catholic faith and you are under no obligation to “become” Catholic (although it sounds as though your heart is already there). And also, most importantly, PRAY.

I think you’re right about that one, and I love your sig! I think this world could use a little more “getting whacked by God’s 2x4 daily”
 
I grew up Church of Christ (south). I was in that faith for 20 yrs. My wife took me to mass one day, kicking and screaming. I “heard” what the Catholic Church was all about. I was very wrong and surprised. I believe now the Catholic Church is the true Church. Many,many unanswered questions that the church of Christ couldn’t answer,now are answered to me. My mother still tries to tell me from time to time that I’m wrong, I in turn try to convert her, still working on it.
 
I’m a former Baptist and understand your feelings. Ask lots of questions, get a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church to learn what the Church teaches. Feel free to participate in Mass as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. There is one small thing though, do not go up and receive Communion. Just quietly let the others in your pew by to go up for Communion and stay in the pew. Only fully initiated Catholics who are in a state of grace are allowed to participate in taking the Holy Eucharist.

Get some books by Protestants who have converted to Catholicism … this will help you with the transition. Watch Marcus Grodi’s JOURNEY HOME weekly program on EWTN or internet … he brings on those who have converted. This week is the Southern Baptist Michael Cumbie — very timely program for you.

Also, don’t try to take on all the dogmatic teachings at once. Start with the Eucharist … once you are convinced Catholics have this one right, you can move on to the tough ones.
 
thank you for all the really good advice. I esp. appreciate the advice not to try and understand deep theology but start with the Eucharist. Reading material by people who have been where I am is also great advice. Thanks!

There are also a lot of Catholic’s converted to being protestant!

Would that be you ?

Perhaps it’s because some Cradle Catholics never got Confirmed. Later in life they are seeking the H.S. … and if they receive it in the Protestant Church, that might convince them that the Catholic Church is somehow deficient.

History clearly teaches you that for our first 1500 years, there was only the Catholic Eastern/Western Churches. And its election were fully Baptized / Confirmed in the H.S.

The Holy Spirit is leading you Home to the Catholic Faith, and it is the Holy Spirit that will use you to get your whole family to become Catholic.
