But Catholics do not believe that God has given us His divine Revelation in Christ exclusively through Scripture. Catholics also believe that God’s Revelation comes to us through the Apostolic Tradition and teaching authority of the Church.

Who came up with this one?
Topic for a new thread.

But the Op question has yet to be addressed.

Not judging. Only encouraging to know God’s word and know the truth.
Have you ever researched the history of the Bible? Do you know with whom God entrusted His Word? Who was guided by the Holy Spirit during its compilation? Who decided which writings were inspired and which were merely inspiring? Who preserved the Bible until Protestants showed up 1500 years later with a new interpretation?

Is Bengal fan’s question really so hard to answer?

Maria:

I’m not baptist. But I would say you can trace the history of our church back through Jesus and his teachings. The corrupt nature of the Catholic church and abuse of scripture caused an enlightenment of the breakaway churches who can trace their roots back through to Jesus Christ. In other words, the way I see it is that history proves we were all once one church. However, when the church used it’s influence and power for corrupt puposes and financial gain, all bets were off. that’s my stab at it. FYI - my Bible doesn’t have the word “Catholic” in it anywhere. And look at the definition of universal - it can mean other things besides catholic. To take the corner on the truth market based on this is a mistake in my opinion.

The Bible doesn’t have the word “Trinity” either.

That’s bunk. we didn’t come up with a new interpretation. we looked at the corrupt way the Catholic church was abusing scripture for their own power and gain. Took the Bible and founded churches based on scripture - God’s word inspired by the Holy Spirit. Did you take history in college - i am sure you know of the abuses and such of the catholic church by then right? Those corrupt people were the truth?

Please inform us all on how baptists and anabaptists can trace their heritage to apostolic times. we’re listening, please tell us.
John the Baptist died before Christ founded His Church, so what does that mean for the “Trail of Blood” theory? How can you be the earliest Christians, if the Christ hadn’t even founded His Church at the time of John the Baptist’s death?

ExpectAMiracle:
My Bible says nothing about it being a Catholic rock. Your church is distracted by it’s rituals that you cannot focus on Christ’s teachings. It’s sad the majority of Catholics taking communion think that’s enough to get by. I don’t remember Jesus setting a frequency to the number of observances of his last supper. Why do you do it every week. It seems to me his sacrifice once was enough. why do you continue to put him on the cross?

The biggest difference as I see it is your church has have had many MEN under papal infalibility changing and interpreting the doctrine. My question was an honest one. Why do you feel your church with all of it’s MAN made rituals and changes in doctrine has a corner on the market? Why are you more concerned with observing the Catholic church than following Christ? Jesus said “pick up your cross and follow me”. He didn’t say pick up your cross and follow the Catholic church… Why do you rarely see a Bible at a Catholic Mass?
Your bitterness saddens me. I will pray that you are released from this burden.

I didn’t argue we were the earliest Christians. I argued that the corruptness and violation of God’s word drove many from the “universal” church to take the scriptures and apply then for Jesus not for the gain, power and glory of the Catholic church.

Somebody please answer my questions about the pedophile priest preforming the Miracle of conversion at Mass. Did it happen or were they null and void? Why would God work a miracle through those sickos?
You are staring at a quick suspension.

Referring to pedophiles in the American Church is an attempt by you to distract from the fact that your understanding of what the Church teaches is grossly inaccurate.

I already referred you to “Ask an Apologist”. The presence of pedophiles among ministry is not, unfortunately, just a problem in the American Catholic Church. If you research, you will see the percentage of pedophiles in the United States in the entire population is higher than in the Church and is present in the same numbers amongst Protestant pastors. It is an ugly American problem. But, again, that’s a whole other thread.

Would any Sheperding done by a Pedophile Protestant Pastor be null and void? The number of Pedophile Protestants equal the number of Pedophile Priests. So please stop being self-righteous. Just in the last year alone there have been 3 reported cases of pedophilia by Protestant Pastors just in my Tri-County area.

This is best addressed in another thread. Just let me say that your view, that the Church established by Christ, that Scripture calls the pillar and foundation of truth, that we will be led to all truth, will withstand the gates of hell. I could go on, but it seems as if your view of God is too small to keep His promises in Scripture. Start a new thread.

This question was about Baptist history tracing their heritage to apostolic times.

If you wish to discuss other things, start a new thread. I am postive you will get many responses to whatever topic you wish to pursue. But right now, you have jumped from topic to topic without even addressing the topic of this thread.

Try to focus your thoughts and objections and start a new thread.

God Bless,

If you are Baptist, your church was founded by John Smith in the early 17th century.

Thank you Mickey. My bitterness is driven solely on Catholics who believe they have the corner on heaven. Not true. They knock protestant churches and teachers, point to man made traditions outside of the Bible and papal infalibility as the right to have some superior standing with Christ. My hope was to come to this site and see if I could in layman’s terms get a better grip on catholics. I went to RCIA just for kicks and walked away scratching my head. It left manay more questions than answers.

I choose to read the word and hope you will too as you gain a personal walk in Him.

I did take a stab earlier at your challenge. Read up a bit. Now answer one question for me and I’ll go quietly - did God work the sacrament of communion through pedophile priests?

Good to see you are seeking Truth. I find it hard to believe anyone goes to RCIA just for kicks.

Wrath is a reminder of hidden hatred, that is to say, remembrance of wrongs. Wrath is a desire for the injury of the one who has provoked you. Irascibility is the untimely blazing up of the heart. Bitterness is a movement of displeasure seated in the soul. Anger is an easily changeable movement of one’s disposition and disfiguration of soul.

Not debating that. But we don’t believe that a “miracle” is performed through the hands of a priest turning a man made object like a wafer into the body and blood of Christ. My question is - if this miracle really takes place - why would God use those people as the vehicle for the sacrament? Then why did those guys in Boston try and reassign these monsters?
