Prayer for a Sick Person
O Father of mercies and God of all comfort, our only help in time of need: We humbly beseech thee to behold, visit, and relieve thy sick servant Anna for whom our prayers are desired. Look upon her with the eyes of thy mercy; comfort her with a sense of thy goodness; preserve her from the temptations of the enemy; and give her patience under her affliction. In thy good time, restore her to health, and enable her to lead the residue of her life in thy fear, and to thy glory; and grant that she may dwell with thee in life everlasting; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

What does being born of water mean? And how can we be born again of water?

What does being born of spirit mean? And how can we be born again of spirit?

And why are the words: Truly, truly in there?

And why is the imperative: unless in there?

Further:

Matthew 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

This is a command, there is no symbolism anywhere. How can some people make anything else out of this???

Neither can I.

It was Nicodemus, I believe, who really struggled with these the words of Our Lord. We, who have the benefit of 2000 years of hindsight and authentic Church teaching, have no need to struggle. I really don’t know what I would have done had I been Nicodemus. Our Lord’s straightfoward words are just as true today as they were when He first said them.
