Thanks Deacon, good stuff. I go to daily mass about 3 times during the week, and say the rosary the other two days. I’m not sure what you mean with #4.

Jon
By the passion of Christ, I refer to devotion to Jesus for his carrying the cross to Calvary and the crucifixion. The saints have said that those who meditate and pray on this will receive special graces from Jesus for our expressing our love and thanksgiving for him going through this for our salvation.

If we were to boil down our salvation to the bare essentials, here is my initial list. Please give me your thoughts on what I have missed:

  1. *]Believe in Jesus
    *]Keep the commandments
*]Avoid mortal sin like the plague
*]Acknowledge your sins often in confession
*]Frequent the sacraments, especially the Eucharist, confession
    *]Educate your conscience

  1. You missed Christ’s only commandment: "LOVE OTHERS AS I HAVE LOVED YOU."

In answer to the Rich Man’s Son:

Follow the Commandments (Summed up as Love the Lord your God with all your mind, heart and soul, and Love your neighbor as yourself).

Follow Christ.

  1. I don’t mean to be rude but I don’t think we should strive for the bare mininum to get into heaven. We should strive to give the best we can to our Lord.

Same here. Prior to getting involved in Catholicism, I used to always ask the same kind of question, but now I love to pray, think on God and such.

Even if there was a minimum to get into Heaven, why seek only to barely crawl through the Gates when there are so many rewards and glories promised to those who do more than the minimum?
