Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.

I’m not familiar with these… at least not as PRAYERS. I’ve heard of the Beatitutudes of (is it) Matthew (?) 😛 But never as a 'Traditional Catholic Prayer

What makes a prayer a ‘Traditional Catholic Prayer’, any way? :confused:

I do think that there are prayers that every one should know. It bothers me to be at a Catholic Funeral, and the Official does the ‘May Perpetual Light shine upon him’, and the congregation is SILENT, or just mumbles in response. 😊

I had a tool on my Palm device (I’ve had several) that had all the Catholic Prayers, including two versions of the Guardian Angels prayer! Sadly, my Palm is dead, and I haven’t found the same tool for my Blackberry.
 
There are many prayers that I like but the one that I like the most is the most basic one and a very famous one called “Our Father”, also known as “The Lord’s Prayer”. This prayer has two versions and the traditional version is the one that i like the most.

The Divine Praises (e.g. Blessed be God. Blessed be His Holy Name. etc.) were usually recited at Benediction which, very unfortunately and it’s a crying shame, is seldom celebrated today although you can see Benediction on EWTN.

I can’t recall ever hearing the Te Deum recited although I have heard it sung. History is replete with Catholic explorers reciting the Te Deum upon finding new lands, etc. It is a prayer of praise of God.

Ave Maria Stella or Ave Maris Stella, I am familiar with in chant form but not recited in prayer.

I am surprised that no one has mentioned any of the various litanies, e.g. the Litany of Lorreto.

O Mary, my Queen, my Mother, I give myself entirely to thee and to show my devotion to thee, I consecrate to thee this day, my eyes, my ears, my mouth, my heart, my whole being without reserve. O Dearest St. Joseph, I consecrate myself to thy honor and give myself to thee, that thou mayest always be my father, my protector, and my guide in the way of salvation. After thine example, may I do all my actions for the greater glory of God, in union with the Divine Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary! Prayer to know One’s Vocation

O Great Saint Joseph, so docile to the guidance of the Holy Ghost, obtain for me the grace to know what state of life Divine Providence destines for me. Do not allow me to be deceived with regard to so important a choice, upon which depends my happiness in this world, and even my eternal salvation. OT:

The ONE Mass of the year that I just gotta go to - I regulary attend Mass, but this is just so special 😃 😃 😃 - is the Easter Vigil!

Each year, I look forward to the cantor singing the Litany of Saints… Oohh wee! 👍
 
Is there a book with all the traditional Catholic prayers in it?
I went through RCIA in 1999 and was confirmed at the Easter Vigil that year, but we were not taught specific prayers.
Some I already knew, such as the Our Father, and Hail Mary, but others I am just ‘picking up’ as I go along. I would love to be able to read them all and memorize them, so I would feel more like a ‘real’ Catholic.

The Pieta Prayer Book is very good, as is Favorite Prayers to Saint Joseph.
