Good for Christian Bale. It was brave of him to attempt to visit this person under great duress and allegedly he has been attacked for it.

The article quotes him

about his attempt to visit Chen, Bale stated, “I’m not brave doing this . . . This was just a situation — I can’t look the other way.”

“What I really wanted to do was shake the man’s hand and say ‘thank you,’ and tell him what an inspiration he is,” Bale said.
 
I’ve always liked Christian Bale. People have been hard on him for his argument with film crew in the past but I saw through that. People see him play serious roles and think he’s evil. He’s just a really great actor and listening to him, he has a whole lot of heart. It only makes me a bigger fan to read this story.
