Are there any battered women/rape victim charities out there? Any Church-affiliated ones?

I am just wondering since I would like to donate, if possible. It’s nice to know the donations are going towards helping women and not office supplies.

This is one that is listed as a resource on the USCCB website. It isn’t just Catholic though; it is multi-faith. faithtrustinstitute.org

If I were to be donating to a battered women’s charity, I would donate to the local organization in my area since they were the ones that were there for me. You might want to see who is the one providing service in your area.

I think you’ll find these more at a local level than a national level. There are generally local women’s shelters which gladly accept donations of food, clothing (women’s & children’s), personal care supplies (shampoo, soap, toothpaste, etc), diapers, etc. Of course monetary donations would also be welcomed, I’m sure. 🙂

Here is a resource to get you started in your search: National Domestic Violence hotline (provides referrals to local programs): ndvh.org/get-help/contact-the-hotline/

Also, I’m sure you’ll find shelters/programs listed in your local phone directory. Or, contact your Diocese, or your local Catholic Charities or St Vincent de Paul Society branch: I’m sure they could also provide referrals to local programs or shelters.

God bless you for wishing to help!

If I might be so bold as to put in a plug…

There is a wonderful, very successful program in Austin, Texas - St. Louise House, a program of VInCare, a Catholic program that helps homeless (often from abusive relationships) women and their children. In the interest of full disclosure, my daughter works for them.

Here is a link to their site: vincare.org/

They do a wonderful job providing decent housing and helping these women become educated, employed and self-sufficient.
