Was the Battle of Jericho an historical event?

To the best of my knowledge, the destruction of Jericho, at least, was a historical event. My history teacher talked about how shortly after the time when the Exodus was supposed to take place, Jericho was destroyed, though historians can’t prove if it was the Israelites or not, Jericho was at least, destroyed at just about the time the Israelites would have been there. As for 100% conclusive proof, I don’t believe there is any, but maybe I just haven’t heard of it.
