Battling loneliness

It’s being home alone all the time that’s killing me.

I’m sick of reading, sick of watching tv, sick of playing games. I’m too tired and frustrated to engage in crafts. There’s just nothing here at all that holds my interest for more than 10 or 15 minutes, because doing it all by myself is boring.

Really sorry to hear that you are going through this. I think sometimes we feel this way for a deeper reason. That we are meant to do something we are not doing. The most difficult thing is finding out what it is. I have found that prayer can help a lot with this and also helps keep the loneliness away. Also thinking about the loneliness as a consequence of something else you are searching for might help in taking the right steps to try to find it.

Is there some place you can volunteer? Sometimes this is a really great way to meet people.

Above all have Faith. Faith will lead you to Hope and Hope will help you find Love. God never intended for us to be just content with our lives. He wants us to find happiness and will continue to prompt us until we do.

There’s nothing else I can do because the public transit system sucks out here. The last bus to where I live leaves immediately after work. There’s almost nothing on the weekends. So I don’t have a choice but to sit at home.

I really hope something works out soon.

Some of our parishioners are in exactly the same situation and they can’t even get to mass on Sunday! We have recently arranged a rota for offering lifts but it was difficult to get going and I suppose this would not work in every parish as you really need to know someone before offering (or accepting) lifts.

Keep praying, God will show you a way.
 
OP, I live in a big city and I feel as lonely as Ive ever felt. Wish I had answers for you, but I need them too.
 
Part of my problem, and it’s probably an Aspergers thing, is that I hate the process of meeting and getting to know people. I like knowing people and having friends, but absolutely hate the process of getting there.
