Our modern calendar, the Gregorian calendar (named for Pope Gregory VIII) and its predecessor, the Julian calendar, are based on the approximate year of the Incarnation, one of the most significant events of all time, so the terms B.C. (Before Christ), and A.D. (Anno Domini, Latin for “Year of the Lord”) are very relevant terms.
It seems to me that to substitute C.E. (Common Era) and B.C.E. (Before the Common Era) is to disacknowledge that significant event on which our calendar is based. Why would a Christian want to do that?
