I have been told by those who call themselves “Liberal Catholics” that Pope Francis will change the church’s teaching on abortion and euthanasia. However, the Pope does NOT have the authority to go against Sacred Tradition; and, the Pope cannot add novel doctrines, only illustrate and solidify Sacred Tradition. Furthermore, the Pope’s infallibility is ONLY assured under three requirements: 1. Regarding faith and morals (which does not include global warming, etc.); 2. Expressly as an obligation for the entire church; and, 3. Officially as the Vicar of Christ. No Pope after Vatican II has made such a proclamation, nor would the Holy Spirit allow a false proclamation. Abortion and Euthanasia are condemned by the Holy Catholic Church. Who will pray the Rosary in battle against abortion and euthanasia led by the Mother of God? I doubt Pope Francis changes any of that. I don’t know who is telling you this, but there are a lot of secular forces who are wringing their hands hoping Pope Francis will give them the green light to do whatever. But they are misreading his outreach.

1. Either no true idea
