Dear Brothers and Sisters,

It has been a blessing for me to read and listen to the Mass readings for quite awhile now. I use the USCCB site, HERE. The title of this post is the last line in the First Reading for Mass today, May 29, 2018 and it is from the letter of Peter.

The alleluia verse and the Gospel also spoke volumes to me today:
Alleluia SEE MT 11:25

R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth;
you have revealed to little ones the mysteries of the Kingdom.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel MK 10:28-31

Peter began to say to Jesus,
“We have given up everything and followed you.”
Jesus said, “Amen, I say to you,
there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters
or mother or father or children or lands
for my sake and for the sake of the Gospel
who will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age:
houses and brothers and sisters
and mothers and children and lands,
with persecutions, and eternal life in the age to come.
But many that are first will be last, and the last will be first.”
May the Holy Spirit continue His work in each of us, as we continue to ask that we may receive from Him all the graces we need to hear and do all the Truth He was sent to bring us, that we may become holy because God is Holy.

Whether you are able to participate in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass each day or not, I hope you may begin the practice of reading the Mass Readings and uniting yourself with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass being offered all over the world. Perhaps you also pray the Morning Offering – I try to pray this prayer before I get out of bed:
O Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You, all my prayers, words, joys and sufferings of this day in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass being offered somewhere in the world today, in reparation for my sins and the sins of the whole world.
There are different versions of the “Morning Offering” - a child’s version is:
My God I offer You , this day,
All that I shall do, and think, and say,
Uniting it with what was done,
On earth by Jesus Christ, Your Son.
Please let us pray for the Church – All are called to Holiness. Mary, Mother of the Church pray for us!

Hi MariaChristi,

I thought you might like the meditation on Mary today on CatholicCulture.org. It’s by Archbishop Sheen.

Dear Newcatholicism,

Welcome to the Catholic Church – Yes it is the right place! 🙂 Thanks so much for your reply. Please let us pray for one another that by God’s Grace we may all grow in Holiness as God intends us to grow in Christ!

Thanks, Tis_Bearself,

Ven. Fulton Sheen definitely had “a way with words” and a great love for our Mother Mary. The final words in the meditation are priceless:
Without justice, mercy would be indifference to wrong: without mercy, justice would be vindictive. Mothers obtain pardon and forgiveness for their sons without ever giving them the feeling of “being let off.” Justice makes the wrongdoer see the injustice in the violation of a law; mercy makes him see it in the sufferings and misery he caused those who love him deeply.
Merciful Mother Mary knows the Heart of God and she helps us to see how sin pierced His Heart and hers! Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us. Jesus, we trust in You!

I am glad you felt peaceful at Mass. I hope you feel encouraged as you come home to the Church. :hugs:
