"Be not afraid" in the Bible?

I am trying to confirm; "Be not afraid’ is in the Bible 365 times.
Any known good Catholic on-line concordance?
 
you could try and bring whatever Bible you use: ie Douay-Rheims up online and go to edit on the top of your web tool bar and select find. From there type “be not afraid” and hit enter and you can count how many time that phrase comes up
 
I only come up with 7 instances of the phrase “be not afraid” in my RSV software.
“Fear not” - 43 times
“have no fear” - 8 times

Still a long way from 365.
 
GNB bible doesn’t have the phrase “be not afraid” at all.
DRB has “be not afraid” in 16 verses.
KJV has “be not afraid” in 26 verses.
That’s all I can search 👍

I don’t think any bible would have it over 300, #1 “be not afraid” is an Old English term, #2 you’d have to rewrite the Bible to make it say it that many times.
 
It is true, that there is not exactly 365 “Be not afraid” in the Bible.
BUT there is more than 365 passages in the Bible that talks about fear. Not just fear, but to trust in the Lord and to not fear.

Why don’t you just look up the Hebrew for the phrase, and the Greek for the phrase, and search that?

Anyway… 36 is a good symbolic number, if that’s what you’re looking for. 🙂
 
Looking in Greek at “me phobou” or “me phobeisthe”, I found 59 in the OT and 21 in the NT, for a total of 80 refs.

In Latin (“ne timeas”), I found 11 additional instances (all OT). Other Latin searchphrases are “ne timeant” and “ne terreamini.”

In Hebrew, under 'al ti-ra, I found 51. There’s 4 more under 'al ti-ra 'i, 18 under 'al ti-ra 'u, 2 under 'al ti-ra 'um, 9 under 'al ti-r@ ‘i; 21 under al’ ti-r@ 'u; 2 under 'al ti-r@ 'un.

That’s 107 in all, if there’s no duplicates. All of these were OT.

So say 113 in the OT (including Baruch, Tobit and Daniel), and 21 in the NT.

That makes 134 “fear nots”.

But mind you, a lot of those are people talking to people, not angels or prophets giving the Word of the Lord.
