“…remember that God does not get us out of anything, but He will get us through everything.”

This quote from Fr. Charles Grondin here on caf spoke to me the moment I read it. However in the last few days I've thought of this "teaching"(and for me this is a teaching) and pondered it an meditated on it quite a bit. More so than usual.
Last week I was told there is a mass on one of my lungs. Two days ago (after a biopsy of the mass) it was confirmed to me that the mass is cancer.
This quote has given me much solace and strength these last few days and when I become scared and negative in those moments of thinking of the future and what it may hold.
I'm at the very beginning of this particular journey/adventure into the unknown but I believe this quote will be my mantra throughout.

Hi!

Mom would say “we are in God’s Hands.”

…yes, we may suffer from various afflictions… but when we are Led by God we can get through anything… because as St. Paul said, ‘we can do anything in Christ.’ (paraphrased)

I remember mom’s first hospitalization… she was going through a tremendous ordeal… yet, you could not tell from her demeanor (that remained truth till she passed); conversely, I was scared to visit the hospital because mom’s first roommate did nothing but spew hatred and cursed everyone from the nurses to the doctors that attended her…

If we give everything to God (including our joy, pain, and sorrow) we can get so much more out of life, even in the deepest and darkest moments!

I’ll keep you in my prayers.

God bless!

Angel

Thank you jcrichton for sharing and for the offer of prayers. Both greatly appreciated. Sorry for the loss of your mom. I’ll hold her up as inspiration in times of difficulty.

Hi!

I feel I can share a little more… she had had several heart attacks… at the worst, her doctor told us that he could not guarantee that she would live for a few weeks longer… he too was a Catholic devote Believer; and he added, ‘by the grace of God she could outlive us both;’ her doctor died years before mom passed away… only God hold’s the score-card! 😃

…later on mom suffered a seizure that left her in a coma; when she came out of it, five days later, her memory was dislodged (permanent and temporary memory did not connect); one time when a new nurse arrived (she was homebound) she walked into the apartment, noticed and dismissed mom, who was sitting across from her in her recliner, as the her patient and proceeded to look for the patient shown in her charts… as she verified that mom’s empty bedroom and that the bathroom too was empty, she seemed a little confused… so I asked, ‘are you looking for the patient?’ She smiled politely and said yes… I told her, ‘that’s her!’ as I pointed mom out… the nurse could not believe that these were the same persons (mom and the sick person in the charts).

Her strength came from her confidence in God’s Providence and Will!

I hope that you too can find your strength in God!

Maran atha!

Hi. After my third major bout with cancer, I finally came to believe that God has a plan for me. That brought me great relief. I don’t worry about most things now, least of all cancer. I follow up with doctors and keep trusting in God. I’ve learned so much during these times. My faith has deepened and my joy is real.

As you said you’re about to start on a new journey. You’ll start building a new normal. It’s so much better with God at your side.

Prayers for you and your caretakers.

God Bless You.

I don’t think that any saying could be more true.

Thank you for bringing that quote to light … I pray that it helps you … I am in distress at the moment over a medical issue, and it certainly helped me. You will remain in my prayers. God Bless

Thank you Katherine for your offering of prayers. I’ll be sure to keep you in my prayers and blessings as well. Glad Father’s words were able to be of service in some small way. Love and light to you and yours.
