Congressional Record US Senate Sept 20, 2002:It is absolutely NOT a fact. The congressional record reflects Dept. of Health transfers of tiny quantities of dangerous chemicals for research. These quantities were not weaponized and were not intended for weapons use. It is unlikely that they could have been used for such a purpose. We did not sell WMD to Iraq.

Read the above and then please if you would, give me a reason to do that. Please withdraw your commment
That’s a pretty important thing for people we pay to know to get wrong. Not an excuse. That may be true, but no one knew that at the time so it is irrelevant to our decision making. More importantly, we did learn that Saddam was planning to restart WMD production once UN sanctions were dropped.
I have. That’s fine, but stick to facts when defending your position.
I am aware of that now. I was not aware of that before you told me.The Catholic Church supports just wars. There can be debate among well meaning Catholics as to what constitutes just war. This debate is further complicated when misinformation is used in forming arguments.
That is exactly what I said - that the Pope issued a statement that he didn’t feel all options had been exhausted. Not being a wise-guy or anything, but it would save us both time if you would read what I write before you respond. This has happened about 4 times already. I am not annoyed, but from a practical view it is inefficient. The pope’s position was less definitive than you may believe. JPII said that war should be the last option. The US and the UN gave Saddam 12 years to comply and multiple ultimatums which he continued to ignore. Military action was the only method for removing Saddam’s regime from power.
No option needed. He was not a threat. There were no WMD at the time. If there were, where were they from a non-speculative perspective? If you believe there was another method, please state it.
