Last night we went to the ordinary old “last chance” Mass at our parish. We have an orthodox parish, so Mass is never weird, nothing ‘abusive’ going on. But usually Sunday evening is pretty laid-back.
Last night the priest was our visiting priest from India. He always gives a good homily (and long too). He processed in with 4 altar boys–3 of whom were teenagers. All of whom did a wonderful, reverent job. No yawning, no forgetting their duties.
Then during communion, all 4 of our regular priests came out to distribute. The other priests always do come, but not all of them are available for every Mass (away from the parish, sick calls, etc). So we had 5 priests distributing and the EMHCs who had come up went back to their seats.
It was so beautiful. I spent my post-communion time praying for vocations so others could experience what we did.
Happy THANKSgiving!
