Became Catholic yesterday :)

Congratulations! I re-verted to the faith and was finally confirmed in 2004, when I was 21. Then I stuck on with RCIA for the next 3 years and taught it. Now I’m in seminary, and God do I miss teaching RCIA.

My best friend’s car didn’t want to start. He was on his way to his sponsor’s house so they could carpool. Fortunately, his sponsor was able to pick him up, and he made it to church on time. After the late night conversations I had with my friend, I can definitely see where the Evil One did NOT want to let go of my friend and was going to place every doubt and worry, maybe even go so far as to put stumbling blocks in front of him.

But the mass was just wonderful and powerful and … sigh great. God is that great.

It’s sure nice being able to remember your batism, first holy communion and confirmation!

I only remember the 2nd 2 and both were a great experience!

As what granny told me when i got confirmed, i’ll say the same to you guys, you’re full fledged soldier of Christ!
 
I was running about 25 minutes late on Saturday. I had to have my baby girl dropped off at my mother-in-law’s house before I left to arrive at the Easter Vigil. Realized that we hadn’t eaten anything, so we stopped for a quick bite to eat.

As soon as I got on to the parkway and began driving up the “mountain” (I live on the west coast), the car became sluggish and began running out of gas!

I had to get off at the next exit and coast down the hill, luckily I knew that there were two gas stations across from the university!

I was 15 minutes late for meeting up with my fellow RCIA’ers but was still there before the Vigil began!

It was at the cathedral so it was so beautiful and amazing. It went on for over 4 hours though and my wife had trouble with the length. The prostrastion of the elect during the Litany of the saints was my most favorite part. There had for be a few thousand in the parish that day and all those people praying the saints while I was prostrated on the floor in the middle of upstage was amazing. They also gave us communion from the golden cup that the priest uses. I didn’t realize it was that heavy. Then we dressed in white robes after the baptism with candles. Had a wonderful expereince, only that the baptism water was freezing! and the confirmation oil got near my eyes.

During the preparation in the morning I slipped and fell on the ice and really hurt my shoulder. My sponser thought it was Satan trying to prevent me from going, lol. Might have a torn rotator cuff but I still forced myself to go, lol. Will probably see doctor soon if pain dosent go away.

From what Ive seen I think its more fun to be a Catachuemen than a Candidate because you really get the full treatment. I understand the importance of infant baptism but the experience of a Catachumen while being an adult is so memorable.

The enemy (I never utter his name and give him any power) will do anything to keep you from getting close to God. The closer you get, the more times he will try to doublecross you.

I’m so happy for you! I love the Tiber swimmers - it was a convert that got this cradle Catholic back in church!
