Because of Mary's extraordinary gifts, shouldn't women be priests?

Mary was greeted by the Angel and told the Lord was with her. She was the first disciple by saying “yes” to God’s will to bring the Incarnation into the world. She was the first to carry the body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus Christ. In light of being a woman in this unique position, is it not logical that women should be allowed to be priests in the Catholic Church? She was a disciple before any of the twelve men Jesus chose. She is our greatest model and example besides Jesus himself. Isn’t it conceivable that woman should be priests?

Hi,

Mary was indeed all those things, BUT HE DID NOT CALL HER TO BE AN APOSTLE!
This only underscores the fact the Jesus could have had woman priests, and chose not to.
The priesthood was not a gift that she was given. He is very deliberate about the particular gifts that He gives to us.
