I was wondering if its possible for somone who is rich to become a Saint? Since not everyone is called to a vow of poverty that would only make sense. But it seems any Saint I’ve ever heard of has been poor. Please explain

Saint Katherine Drexel was wealthy and then later declared a saint.
From the age of 33 until her death in 1955, she dedicated her life and a fortune of 20 million dollars to this work.

Read all you can about her to understand how wealth and holiness can and do mix.

Ok, maybe this is a goofy question, but is it wrong to want to be a saint?

I don’t mean for personal pride issues. I’m not looking for a church to be named “St. Mommy of 4” parish in 100 years or anything like that. I just mean a truly humble, God-serving, unselfish saint? Or should we just pray that we become as holy as God wants us to be?

Not at all - in fact we can all be and should aspire to be at least small s saints (holy people) if not capital S Saints (worthy of canonisation and leading a life which is an example to others).

Ok, thanks. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn’t wishing for something done out of self-pride. (Oh, look at me, aren’t I holy- I’m a SAINT!) 😛

That’s the ticket! 👍

It’s a very good thing to want to be holy and do God’s will in every way… but, you’re right, there IS an opportunity for pride to set in if we don’t keep our hearts focused on what’s right.

As Catholics, we have our own little “hollywood of stars” up in heaven (and no, I don’t mean to imply in ANY way that our lovely saints have aspired to be “stars”)…
But WE as “fans” can have a misdirected desire to be one of “them”. THAT’s the desire we need to stay away from…

Do you know what I’m trying to say? (I don’t want this to come across sounding wrong!)

Yes, I understand. I just want to make sure that I desire to be what God wants me to be.
