I am new to these boards so forgive me if there is already a thread on this topic…

I was bapitized as a Catholic, recieved my first communion, and my first reconciliation.
Due to my mothers own personal issues we left the church and then we attended bible-based churches. (Non-denominational) Everything we were taught was just scriptures out of the Bible and how to live your life according to the scriptures.

My husband was in the Army. We were married by a pastor before he deployed. We have only been together (in-person) two out of the four years we have been married. All of this time we have never belonged to a church.

To make a long story short, I headed down the wrong path as a teen and finally 5 years ago decided I wanted to live my life for Christ. I asked him to forgive me of all of my sins that I did now believe that he died for our sins on that cross and that he is our savior. I was born-again and felt the holy spirit physically throughout my whole body. I was a completely different person ever since! But…I was pretty much like, now what? what church do I go to? Where do I go from here?

I read the Bible and pray everyday. I do know that he is pushing me to go back to Church. I cannot learn and grow if I do not do this.
I found out this week that I miscarried out first child. I asked him to bring good out this situation and show me what he wants me to do from here. Something started nudging at my heart that maybe I should go back to the Catholic church. My grandmother is a Catholic and always sends me the cards with the information about the specific saints and how they may pray for you. I always loved this and I really want to know more about each of them.

Has anyone been in my “shoes” before? I just want to do what is right in the Lord’s eyes and I don’t have a clue!

Welcome back, Jules_08! 🙂

There will be people better than I who can help you by giving advice, meanwhile I will pray for you. One thing that you will be advised is to talk to a priest.

:blessyou:

As a previous poster mentioned, talking with a priest would be the first thing to do.

If you feel you are being called back to the church after being away for a while, the priest will probably recommend the RCIA program. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)

This program will provide you information on church teachings, pracitces, history, sacraments etc.

Since you were baptized Catholic, and didn’t mention that you were confirmed, he will probably require this before you can be confirmed.

Also, since you were baptized Catholic, you are bound by church requirements regarding marriage. Which means you are required to be married in the church. Since you didn’t mention that you were married in a Catholic church, I am assuming that you were either married in a protestant church, or civilly. Your marriage would need to be convalidated (blessed) prior to entering the church.

Also, before entering the church, you will need to receive the Sacrament of Reconcilliation/Confession.

So as you can see, there are some “steps” that need to be taken, and your local parish priest would be the best place to start.

God Bless, and Good Luck
