Becoming God Talk Has Been False and Remains False

The tract on the website is false on its face. I desire only one thing — to become LIKE — I stress that word – God. If I am on the road to live the life that I do, keeping the commandments, repenting, and enduring to the end, is a goal of becoming like God a bad thing?

I did not state anything about becoming a God or any of the this false hopwash that is spread in the tract on this website and spread by others who do not know our doctrine — they choose to make up what they think our doctrine is or what we believe.

You do realize you are not capable of keeping the commandments in any way shape or form, that any repenting you do is the Holy Spirit driving you, and if you “endure to the end” it is by the grace of God. Even if you did manage to accomplish what you say you would be no where near becoming like God. Remember Lucifer wanted to become like God or be God. The words are merely a semantics game IMO.

**I am a former Mormon **living in the metro Phoenix area preparing to return to Seattle area as soon as possible due to my work. I have always been a Catholic, fortunately I am grateful for this site and outside resources available for those folks like me who wish to strengthen their faith in the church and remain active.

Whether it is Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses or whatever church trying to convert us will always work to do that, I know this is my home regarding my faith always.

So you don’t believe that you’ll become a god, just like God?

Funny, I’m looking at Gospel Principles (for those that do not know this is an official LDS Church manual) right now, and under Exaltation, it says that one of the blessings given to exalted people is “they will become gods”, not like God. I don’t believe we need to look at other sources, but we can if we need to.

Don’t be to hard. My LDS friend when I asked about why some say this is not teaching told me they hadn’t been to temple teaching yet. That is why I asked the question I did.

Do you mean becoming gods? They don’t need to go to the temple to know that this is doctrine. It’s right in the manuals, and exaltation is something that is emphasized. The temple of course plays a role in exaltation (i.e. the Endowment and Sealing), however that does not mean that they don’t learn about it outside of the temple.

You say the tract on the website is false on its face. (I am assuming you mean this website) If it is false on the face, have you looked at the rest of it? Where is it wrong? Tell us where it is wrong, and why.
