AMEN to the boldface!
It’s amazing how many times I have said “No thank you, but I’ll have a Coke,” and then someone says, “Well, we have blah-blah (some kind of liquor that I have never heard of) over here, if you’d rather have some of that,” and I say, “No, I’ll just have a Coke,” and they say, “So are you working after this event?” and I say, “No,” and they say, “Well, you don’t have to drink Coke,” and it goes on.
I know they’re just trying to be nice, but eventually I have to come out of the closet and say, “I don’t drink alcohol.”
And they STILL say, “Well, here’s some blah blah (some liquor that I’ve never heard of)–that doesn’t have a lot of alcohol. Try it.”
And I say “I really don’t drink alcohol. EVER. The only time I have ever had alcohol in my life is when I take Nyquil or when I use vanilla extract in my baking.”
And they say, “Well, I’ll be darned! You’re kidding!”
And hopefully it ends there. But all too often, what happens is, “Well, there’s nothing wrong with alcohol. It’s not a sin to drink, you know. I’ve been drinking since I was a teenager, and I’m not an alcoholic. I’ve only been drunk a few times in my whole life. Why are you so judgemental?”
:banghead:
I am not kidding. It’s amazing how many times when you have to admit that you don’t drink, people will assume that you are judging them or calling them sinful.

Sorry for the vent. Just sharing my experiences with my forays into the world of drinking alcohol. All true. No sarcasm at all.
