Why are you done?
Hope you don’t leave angry. I think everyone has behaved in a charitable manner. You make some pretty bold claims…Ok I am done with this thread.
You’re always welcome back. I will say it’s not uncommon for Muslims to join and not provide evidence for their claims; perhaps after some good study of Christian Scriptures and 1st/2nd century Religion, you may return and really challenge us! I think Allah would be proud if you fearlessly read our Scriptures. Starting with Matthew to RevelationOk I am done with this thread.
You just used the silent form of verbal abuse. How dare you? To not engage in a conversation that is important to some, and just saying okay, I’m not going to talk anymore is the silent form of verbal abuse. Look it up.Ok I am done with this thread.
Yes, it’s how we in the Christian Eastern churches pray, too. It didn’t start with Islam or with Christianity. Here you can see the Syrian Orthodox Christians pray the Lent prayer in their monastery of St. Ephrem in Sednaya, with prostrations like normal: www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XqVPK6bjt0This is how we pray today also.
Realize though, he did not want to do anything but try and tell you that you are wrong. This was not a real discussion about Religion, it was a statement from the beginning, the he is right and you are wrong.Sad… I was enjoying this. Don’t normally get the opportunity to speak to non-Christians.
Provided it’s correct, this last sentence is disconcerting.
Well this is the gender of most who convert of their own accord.
The majority of converts to Islam in the west are criminals from prison they convert in prison It is a tactic of radicals to target criminals.
Probably found it way to time consuming? Lots of us asking questions, but only him to respond. I appreciate how involved the O.P. was by answering the vast majority of questions. Why are you done?
He did not start this thread to debate, he wanted to clear up misconceptions about Islam as per the title of this thread. Your last few posts were are little uncharitable brother. I don’t think Jesus would be pleased with you generalizing and calling Muslims liars. I have sincere Muslim friends whom I’m proud to call my friendsRealize though, he did not want to do anything but try and tell you that you are wrong. This was not a real discussion about Religion, it was a statement from the beginning, the he is right and you are wrong.
The Quran when you read it, is merely a bitter accusation that The Bible is wrong. Do not be sad to not talk to him anymore, be glad all these wonderful people were wonderful and nice to him, despite his true motives.

Your always welcome back. Remember brother we share the same Abrahamic faith. We have a lot more in common than meets the eye.Ok I am done with this thread.
Because one person posted uncharitable things (now deleted). Everyone else followed forum guidelines. Hope he comes back, there is always one bad apple in any lot.He didn’t answer my questions.
This seems true. He seemed like a nice guy, but maybe wasn’t prepared for people questioning his religion like this. A lot of Muslims are like this. They are not used to people openly challenging Islam because that does not happen very often in the Muslim societies, so when they encounter others they think “Oh, this person will be educated in Islam and convert, since Islam is perfect and their religion is not”, and not “This person has their own religion which they are just as tied to as I am to mine, and their own reasons for disbeliving Islam other than what the Quran says about unbelievers” (that they are led astray, proud, and other similar things). They don’t consider that because of course to the Muslim there is no good reason to doubt Islam or to leave Islam for another religion. So they come to non-Muslims with big expectations that we will just agree with everything, or if we don’t agree its because we are prejudiced against the Muslims or Islamic things.I think he came on here expecting a Q&A rather than a debate. He probably would have done well in that, he seems to know about Muslim scripture and beliefs, but not apologetics.
Jakkub hightailed it of here for some reason. You make a great point though… I think Muslims agree that the body is our physical body, the soul is the personality and immortal aspect, and the spirit is the indwelling of God’s holy spirit within us, sustaining us, and giving us the ability to be alive both on Earth and in eternity?Jakkub,
Not all religious truths are easily understood by the mortal man. And I would say the trinity is one of them.
However, one way to explain this is taking any man as an example. Man is made of three parts, body, soul, and spirit. The body is our physical body, the soul is the personality and imortal aspect, and the spirit is the indwelling of God’s holy spirit within us that sustains us and gives us the ability to be alive both on Earth and in eternity.

There are a couple of nice things about Islam:This seems true. So they come to non-Muslims with big expectations that we will just agree with everything, or if we don’t agree its because we are prejudiced against the Muslims or Islamic things.
And we are, right? We say the same about Christianity, but the difference is that we have more defenses, not just “Yes, some Christians do this”, but “Christians do this because of this reason” or “Christians don’t or shouldn’t do this because of this reason”. Islam has apologetics, but they against other religions only, not for Islam so much because you don’t need to present that if you assume that every non-Muslim is simply misinformed (so instead you tell them “this is Islam” and that is it, like Jakubb did to a lot of questions). It used to be the rule in fact that Christians could not teach their children the Quran. This is as old as the pact of Umar. Now of course they make Christians learn the Quran sometimes (in some countries), but still without the ability to question it or say “This is why it is wrong to me as a Christian”. So the Muslims are disadvantaged to deal with non-Muslims, and can only hope that they meet non-Muslims who are willing to take whatever they say about Islam/Quran/Mohammed as true, and not non-Muslims who have known Islam from the beginning like the Eastern Christians. (For us, they get us through other ways like laws that favor Muslims in getting jobs, school, marriage, and other ways. A lot of Copts became Muslims in the old days not because of “convert or die”, but because it became more and more hard to be a Christian when all of the laws are written by Muslims and for Muslims against Christians. A lot of people could not afford to stay Christian, or it was easier to be Muslim and they did not have the strong faith.)
This is why you see more Christians in the west becoming Muslims. It is a new faith for them, and they think all the things the Muslims tell them are true, and the west is free to change religions anytime. They have become free from “misconception” in this way, which means that they believed everything without thinking about it like Muslims do. But it is not the Muslims fault in many places, where they cannot ask about the Quran or about Mohammed without trouble (how can they think when they cannot ask questions or admit that they are doubting something, or even prefer another religion?). Many Muslims come to other societies that are not Muslim and become atheist or become Christian or become something else. This is another reason why they want the Sharia law in the whole world, because it’s not possible to change from Islam to something else under the Sharia, so they can force everyone to stay Muslim forever so long as the Sharia is in place.
