Been having religious dreams...problem is, they're of Islam

Don’t know if this is the right place, seems to be the best place for this sort of thing.

Long story short, I’ve been having some quite vivid dreams recently. This is unusual for me as I don’t typically remember them in any real detail. However these were in full HD and I remember even small details.

What is perhaps significant is that my dreams have been specifically religious in nature- I remember seeing holy books, religious clothing and praying. But what is odd to me is that all of these have been Islamic in nature- I remember seeing an Arabic Quran, women in hijabs and long abaya dresses, men in robes, even the Islamic prayers and a mosque.

Now given my interest in Catholicism, and my belief I was being led to the truth because of this, these dreams seems very strange, especially as I have no real connection to Islam other than living in a town with a lot of Muslims. So, what should I make of them? They seem of such an importance as my brain remembers them quite strongly.

Yup.

And remembering a dream clearly isn’t much. I had a dream that batman kidnapped and tried to torture me. And then he chose not to and we fall in love… (true story)🤷 now this dream is the result of me watching ben affleck as batman, right? Yes!

I’ve heard many stories about muslims in Muslim countries having dreams about Jesus and then they convert to Christianity. Now they might not be surrounded by christians…

Not that I believe dreams are ‘proof’ or anything, but it is interesting, lol

Pray over it. Go and read about what apologists have said about catholicism, etc. Don’t worry too much 🙂
 
Pray on it, of course. God is listening and I’m sure you can learn something from this. Even without being a Muslim, you can find elements of culture and great things in other faiths without being all “ecumenical” and “interfaith.” Many Christians have always taken interests in other cultures and religions without considering their authenticity.

I wouldn’t be so overzealous about automatically assuming that these dreams are from God, but either way, someone (whether it is God or your conscience) wants you to be aware of Islam and its presence.

Yes, while we disagree with Islam, there are wonderful Muslims and Islamic culture has some decent elements we can find. 🤷
 
Dreams, I think, often represent our anxieties and concerns but do so in radically different ways from our conscious discursive mind. Firstly, they rely on images more than words and secondly they condense a number of different concerns into a single narrative. My guess, fwiw, in your case is that your interest in religion and the anxieties induced by Islamist terrorism have been amalgamated into such a narrative.

There is no reason to interpret such dreams in a purely literal sense whatever the interpretation may be. I’ve several times dreamt of a London Underground Central Line service which terminates at Newcastle but never yet based my travel plans upon it.
 
Dreams are not per se a source of truth. They are the editing floor of our heads.

Everything we see in a dream, we have seen in some form in our life; often so jumbled as to be unrecognizable (hence the need for interpretation). But things you see a lot will represent clearly. You see a lot of Muslims around. QED.

The Bible says, “Satan masquerades as an angel of light”

Satan can imitate God to a limited point,

Satan could be sending you these dreams to stop you becoming a Catholic,
Satan would try anything to stop you becoming a Catholic and joining the True Church.

Get a free bottle of Holy water from a Catholic Church.
Sprinkle some around your room each night saying, “In the Name of Jesus Christ i command all evil spirits to leave and not return.”

A LOT of Catholics when on the brink of converting to catholicism got spiritual attacks,
Such as nightmares of demons etc…

Satan does not like losing a soul, or losing potential ground on a soul,

But God is stronger. Holy Water has Jesus Exorcist blessing on it.
 
Jesus may want you to pray for other religions as a catholic.
 
The Catholic Church teaches correctly,
Never put trust in any “signs” because:
It could be just coincidence,
It could be your mind playing tricks on you,
Or it could be Satan trying to lead you astray.

So the catholic church teaches to submit any discernment to a priest, and otherwise not put any weight whatsoever on “signs”.

Bearing in mind how ordinary it is for me to see a Muslim, it would seem odd that my brain would then, in any form, choose to dwell upon it or make a deal from it. IDK.

I live in a country and particular bit of my country which is about as far removed from terrorism or any threat from terrorism as it is possible to be. I can’t see how any ‘fear’ of terrorism would be on my mind at all.
 
The devil could be influencing your mind. That is how I like to explain dreams that seem to prove religions other than Christianity.
 
I personally wouldn’t put any weight on it or view it in any way spiritual.
Dreams are usually just reflections of what we see during the day or what we view on the news or Tv.

I had a dream one time, and somewhere in the dream was an old ruined house. During the week I noticed it was an old house I frequently drove past but had never paid much attention to it. My brain had noticed the old house and put it in my dream though.

Your brain stores everything somewhere and for some reason will throw random things into dreams.

Also:
Satan will not want you to become a Catholic and will do anything, even influence your dreams, to prevent you becoming catholic.
