When I was a girl in college, I would have been creeped out by someone who asked me to coffee or lunch, or offered to do me a favor of any sort, if I didn’t already know him a little bit. So definitely don’t offer to go anywhere with her, or do anything for her, right off the bat. Sit near her at Mass, so that you have an excuse for your paths to cross, and just smile and say hello. If an opportunity to chat doesn’t immediately present itself, then repeat again, If you see her at Sunday Mass, do the same thing, and your conversation starter can be that you see her often at Daily Mass. Just find something to chat about. Repeat this a few times after Mass (if that is the only place you see her), and THEN, if she seems to enjoy chatting with you, then go from there. Is this a Mass that is on campus? Are you both walking away from the church/chapel in the same direction? Naturally walking out of church together and down the same path makes more sense with a casual acquaintance than an announcement that you’d like to walk her to her next class. Or if you have to pass by a food court or coffee shop on your way back to your dorm, it is easy to just say, “hey I’m going to grab a muffin and coffee over there (or some lunch at the food court), want to come too?” So I would wait to ask her out in a more formal way until you have had the chance to have a few real conversations.
