Being catholic in the family what does that mean?
Were you taught religious behavior?

Like did you

Pray for your sister? Or brother?
Say the rosery as a family?
Go to adoration?
Read the Bible as a family?

God bless.

Me personally?
My folks:
Sent us to Catholic school
Took us to mass every Sunday and holyday
Gave us Christian reading materials (both Catholic and Protestant works that didn’t contradict Catholicism)
Grace before meals and bedtime
Christian TV (although not exclusively)
Talked to us about their beliefs

No, it did not “take” for all us kids…

My parents taught us to pray the Hail Mary at night since we could first speak. They are also involved in a rosary group so we would pray the rosary whenever they had them at our house to host. We also go to mass every Sunday and they sent me to catechism to do my communion and confirmation.

The only thing we never did together was read the bible, although my mom would tell us stories of Noah and the feeding of the 5000 which I remembered ever since it was told to me as a kid. I sort of became the more religous one to come out of my siblings, im the oldest. I kind of caught on to religious behavior once I was in highschool. So being catholic in the family was the norm, the only one in my entire family that was not catholic was one of my aunts who was baptist. I am pretty glad I grew up in a good catholic household, I was taught morals and now I am into bible study and such expanding my faith. My family sure did their job as followers of Christ.

I’m 50, and I come from a family that is culturally Catholic, but where actual faith and a relationship with Christ was uncommon.

We rarely went to mass, we never prayed together as a family, and the family bible was kept on a shelf in a closet.

As a mom, being Catholic in the family means praying together, teaching my son about the faith, going to mass together, bringing faith in Christ into our conversations and life situations, reading and memorizing Bible verses…

We’ve been listening to “Adventures in Odyssey” for the past decade, and that goofy little radio show has started a lot of excellent conversations about our relationship with Christ, and about living out our faith in our daily lives.

I was baptised at the Easter vigil. Apart from one aunt related by marriage, the rest of my family are either Protestants or atheists.
