Genesis 1:28

And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

I see a lot of talk about not having sex or masturbating. Or like not having sex can bring you closer to if god or you can’t date at the wrong time. Or like you can’t have like test tube babies or whatever. So like what is the point? I hear people not being happy because there are not enough Christians or muslims or something are going to take us over. If we are thinking like that how are we going to get the church bigger?

You discern marriage, validly marry, accept children lovingly from God.

What the Church teaches about one aspect of this question of being fruitful is so infrequently picked up on or learned.

Being open to life in a marriage has infinite, immeasurable temporal and eternal consequences.

Having children helps us become saints!!!

The work of parenting…of frequent denial, of helping others…of working on their growth and formation, of sorting out options/questions about their upbringing and care with one’s spouse…all of these zillions or so “work items” have the effect - if we’re open to it - of making us canonizable saints!!!

The growth that can come from parenting is unimaginably big.

The family is a “saint making” machine.

The unitive serves the procreative…and the procreative serves the unitive.

Yes.

God knows we have limits. He made us.

God set up the family to be the primary means of evangelizing the world.

A priest I know said the family is so big…that everything in the world is ordered to serve the family. Companies, governments, nature, law, medicine, engineering.
