Read all that I wrote. Do not take one sentence out of context. A soldier must follow commands, has taken an oath of obedience. However, he/she must also follow conscience. Merely following commands is not a defense for immoral actions. Obedience means “to listen.” Our obedience is first and foremost to God and may demand disobedience to an immoral (illegal) order.Seriously? Everything a military organization commands is coherent with Christian/Catholic teaching?
This is not what the Catholic Church teaches.
And as a Navy veteran, and Catholic, I know it’s not true to my faith.
I do not know of a job, military or civilian, does not carry with it an agreement to follow orders.
